Thread Details

I bought one prescription medicine from CVS . These are one of those medicine that you get in tiny yellowish bottle. They are open in a way you can turn the top cap and open it. Later I found the same medicine at fraction of cost at Costco. When I tried to return the one I bought at CVS I am told they can't be returned even thought I have the receipt. I am told these are not sealed medicines so they can't be returned. Is there some good reason I can give to return these?

no. You shouldn't be able to return those.

If they won't let you return, ask them if they will price match Costco.

cvs doesn't price-match.. it's a convenience store, and you are comparing prices to a warehouse?

P.S. - why is this in tech support?

Pharmacies never price match on medications.

I used to get Rite Aid to price match to Kroger's 4 dollar prescriptions all the time. I'm not sure if they still do it as this was last year. My point is that it is possible to get pharmacies to match other pharmacy prices. It doesn't hurt to ask.

My CVS Pharmacy price matches Walmart prices, except for controlled substances and compound drugs.

It is against the law for a pharmacy to take back a RX and resell the medication.
If they did take it back the only thing they can legally do is dispose of the medication.
When you think about it would you want to take a RX that someone else had in their possession at any point other than the pharmacy? I know I certainly would not.
Just call it a lesson learned and next time learn to do your homework first.

My co-pay is the same regardless of where I get my Rx filled.

Seriously? You actually want to return a prescription medication? Are you not disturbed by that thought? To think (if that were to really be allowed) that medication you are getting was returned by Joe A. Customer (and could be coated with god knows what) - is a really frightening thought.

Or, you want CVS to allow you to return a product, get your money back and then they throw have the medicine away? .....and people wonder why prescription drug prices and healthcare costs are so extremely high.....

Just like with every other thing you buy that costs a lot of money...do your homework FIRST.

Agree with above - see if your CVS will adjust the price for you.
