I've the M121S just around Christmas and it was upgraded to 3.06 Firmware but now I tried upgrading the Firmware to 3.26 by using the internal app and it's saying I have the latest. Can someone walk me through the process in order to update to the latest firmware? Do I need a usb-to-usb cable for this? The only usb cable I've is the male/female (like the one that goes to the printer and computer) I don't have one that goes in the tvpad that's the same type on the other end.
Many thanks! Update 1: NM--found the answer to use a usb memory device with a single partition. I just didn't read the instruction. Update 2: It's much faster after the update and it has many more apps. Last edited by hkteaman; 03-10-2013 at 08:53 PM.. |

hey guys. i just got my tvpad yesterday. I have a problem regarding the wifi. My router is located downstairs and I want the TV for my dad upstairs. The signal strength is about 75%, which is an okay connection, as it lags a bit. I want a stronger connection. How would I go about it? Powerline is out, as the top floor and the bottom floor is not on the same electrical line.

ive been off and on on this thread for some time.
1-is it worth getting tvpad2 vs tvpad? -i remember reading there is like always a new model coming out every few months and from what i remember people say getting the "older" version is fine sine there are no major differences and firmware can be upgraded. dont plan on playing the games (are they even fun/accurate/worth playing) looks like a ghetto wii lol . i assume no improvements with better hardware navigating the unit itself2-百合电视 still not working? 粵海TV is an app for the tv pad? whats the quality since the other service seems to be down 3-i am slightly concerned about performance since i am 12 Mbps down and 1.4Mbps up. i plan on upgrading to 18 Mbps (if possible) down since i have to renew my contract. edit-ive only seen max speed of 1.2Mbps when loading hd then jumps down to 300kbps 4-does using tvp use my upload? i don't remember if the apps tax both up and down. 5-how is the quality on most major networks (most important tvb )6-tvpad is also known as m121s?-edit-belive so 7-how often is firmware updated? 8-from what i have heard old epps of tv series or movies can be loaded on demand similar to hulu or netflix? is this an app that needs to be installed or a feature built into it 9-what methods are you using to record shows? is this even necessary if on demand is available 10-how reliable is the service in terms of uptime and proper/hq streaming 11-is there any period of time when speeds are bad 12-where are servers located and how are they able to flip the bill. streaming in 720 and 24h a day seems like high bandwidth draw edit-no uninstall option on tvp2? edit2-what other apps do i need to install for hk/canton shows that are not listed/given with the tvpad. ie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEhoQ2RjZos around the 7:50 min edit3-are there any other companies worth looking into ie KDLINKS HD700. seems like it can play tvb right out of the box. my main focus is tvb+old tvb series on demand. The cheapest and fastest and option is cat5. Key is that this is the most reliable option. All other options like WiFi or powerline and really just expensive and fragile workarounds until you get the wire installed. Remember that non-technical users will easily get frustrated by any hiccups. I've heard that the WiFi on the tvpad is not very strong and works better on 802.11N. Do you have a spare WiFi router with non-internal antennas that you can connect to the tvpad to act as a WiFi client? Having the WiFi unit external from the tvpad also let's you play around with positioning. As for powerline, I'm surprised that I was able to use it to connect two apartments that are on different meters, different floors, and on opposite sides of the building. Speeds were not amazing but fast enough for internet, TV streaming, and VoIP. Like with WiFi, you have to watch out for external interference. Last edited by badbob001; 03-12-2013 at 05:20 AM.. |
