Go check out the iPlayer i5 and WelTV on clubtvpad.com. These guys know the products they sell and can provide great tech support (in English) as well. They also sell TvPad3 for $229, but I would suggest the iPlayer or WelTV for those that are more tech savvy or don't mind tinkering. They can pre-configure xbmc for a $20 adder to the price of the iPlayer or WelTV.
Quick summary (no personal experience, yet, but from what I've read). I have an iPlayer i5 w/ xbmc from clubtvpad.com in transit. While the WelTV looks most promising and has the most content/channels, I chose the iPlayer because of more TVB channels.
TvPad3 - Good PQ for HK dramas on VOD. Live stream PQ not as good. However, if all you want is HK dramas, then this is probably best at this time. Also has a remote+stream app on google play.
iPlayer i5 - Most TVB cantonese channels of the 3 products. Live streaming PQ better than TvPad, but for HK drama VODs, TVPad is better.
WelTV Premium - Very new (less than 2 months old). It sold out quickly, but you can pre-order at the promo price. Looks promising. Has a physical on/off switch and can record to SD card or USB drive. Similar TVB channels as TvPad. Live streaming PQ is equivalent to iPlayer. PQ of HK drama VODs are still better on TVPad. Mainland China and Taiwan contents are plentiful and in "HD". I believe they now have Korean and Japanese contents as well.
Check out this site for reviews of the 3 products if you are interested. I'm certain after you check out the site and read some of the forum posts and reviews, you'll agree that this is the place to place your online order.
My sister & I have the tv pad 2 and somehow the hong kong TVB channel are block from our Verizon internet provider. Can anyone have any way to fix this. I had test the tvpad in my friend home they ust Timewarner cable as their internet and my tv pad work perfectly.
On verizon fios with no issues for tvpad. On the tvpad screen, the man icon in the lower right corner needs to be green (he's often referred to as GM (green man). Green means that your box was able to contact the tvpad central server.
is tvpad2 hk channels working? It haven't been working for 2 weeks now.
You probably need to update your tvpad to the latest firmware. 3.94 was just released on 2/13. I'm not sure if or when the tvpad will auto-update, but go here to find out how to do it manually: http://clubtvpad.com/forums/viewt...=10&t=2317
There are also updates to the hk live tv and vod apps. Install the N+ app store to access the new apps. The newest version of the live tv app is so cool. Instead of simply one app for watching live tv and another for watching 12-hour delayed tv, this new single app lets you watch live tv, see a program guide of that day's shows, AND access recorded streams of that day's shows.
