Sprint "recieve a detailed bill" add on? $1.99?? Wha?
Okay just checked my sprint bill, online, one of the rare times and I happened to look at our plan. I noticed there is a $1.99 charge for a detailed bill. Its not on our previous months bills. Is this now?
We've had sprint 15 odd years, the plan has been the same the past 6. Ever since back in the day they have always itemized the calls, that way you know that they did not overcharge you. Many times long ago when we had restrictive minutes, I could often find phone numbers or calls that were being charged at a wrong rate.
How else can you dispute incorrect usage unless they tell you how many minutes they say you use up?
When I started looking at it I saw that also the admin charge has gone up to $3 and taxes which were $1.98 3 months ago are $3 or so. Whats going on here? Doesn't seem right that they can increase your charges (not tax) on you when you sign up for their service to be at a certain price point.
(I had noticed the change in TOS thread to opt out for certain plans, but I didn't realize it would be affecting my plan. Or at least these particular changes.)

Actually we prefer paper bills as the family member who pays it often has problems with the billing dept. In fact we're old school here, want to see all the bills in one pile to admire them, and then misplace them when we need to find something urgently. (not my dept)
But the issue is not that they are now charging for a paper bill. I think that the charge is only that now they have created a charge because they are telling you the information about what calls were made that used up your minutes.
(they messed up a payment 3 years ago and ever since always show us a month behind although we are on time and every month its the same calling back and forth to get it fixed. Eventually someone says "ohhh, I see" fixes it and says it will never happen again, but lo and behold sure enough give it a month and there it is again. )

They announced it on the December bill in the announcement that starting 1/1/12, they would charge $1.99 for the detailed bill. You can call in to ask for the simple bill or change the option online (somewhere on sprint.com).

One would think when they charge a recurring set fee per month that they would consider they would have some cost to them involved and put it in the monthly rate. Also what admin fee do they need to charge? They charged me an activation fee that should have eaten any extra fee involved in setting up a line. Everything else is a cost of doing business.
Doesn't seem like they should be able to do it and then advertise the amount without the admin fee on their commercials/in their store. I bet its in some fine print somewhere, but they really are slipping it in the bill it feels.

You can go online and see your detailed billing. So you could change it to have the summary mailed to you and then if you feel that the total is not right, look at it in more detail online.
Thanks for the advice to make it a simple bill. My family was worried that if we did that the info would not be available online either.
Saving the $2 is at least a start. I hope someone down the road can figure out a way in court to prove that the admin fee is a breach of terms and we can eventually get our fees refunded...

This is what happens when people campaign on helping the middle and lower class. They simply charge the businesses more taxes which are in turn passed on to the consumer. Hope and change, baby!
