i keep hearing to stay away from OCZ SSDs

for a shell shocker today. going to wait and see what price they do on it. If not ill jump on one of those ocz ones from amazon

I currently have a agility 3 and love it. With ocz drive just have to install them as a regular drive first and update firmware to make sure its going to be good. Alot of people just pop it in and install it as main boot drive without checking for updates. I have now had 2 ocz drives without any issues.

for the ocz agility i think its better to get the 120gig instead of the 90gig you put up.

same price but its a $20 rebate instead of a $30 but $10 for a extra 30gig is good...

they rushed it just like all the other companies that uses the new sandforce drives.. bad firmware.
they fixed it already but depending on how long these drives have been sitting on the shelves you might need to update them with a flash.

One is Vertex SATA 2

and one is AGILITY SATA 3

so the 90gb is going to way out perform the 120gb

you misunderstood me. the AGILITY SATA 3 90gig is the same price as the AGILITY SATA 3 120gig for $10 more after rebate.

edit. nvm amazon was being weird. the 139.99 price didnt change when it clocked on the 120gb version.
but its still a better buy over the 90g.

yeah they had some firmware issues like every other company. Intel had issues last year. Crucial just released a new firmware for their M4 as the old version was causing BSOD's. so OCZ is not the only company.

people are claiming that theyre SO much more unreliable than other companies' drives, but it's just not true. Their supposed RMA rate is like 3% vs 2% for everyone else. c'mon.

i have a 3 year old Vertex 30GB that i still use and it works great. I've had a Vertex 2 for 1.5yrs now and it's fantastic. fwiw, i also have a 160GB Intel which is chugging along nicely.

dont be afraid of OCZ drives. they have some of the fastest, and well-supported, drives on the market.

BS..,I've owned Vertex 1, Agility 1, and two Vertex 2. There are definite issues with the company in how they were addressing the BSOD issues, I never could get a vertex 2 working properly with my Asus laptop. I've an m4 now and would not go back to an ocz, esp anything SF based.

Had a vertrex 2 in my macbook for 9 months now, no problems whatsoever.

If you look at the rebate (at least on the 120GB Vertex Plus), it says must be purchased by 1/22. So, I'm thinking it is no longer valid anyway.
