Thread Details

Existing Customer with an expired contract, currently paying $119.99 for "Verizon FiOS Triple Freedom" plus additional costs for DVRs and standard boxes. Location is Northern VA.

Went online to check my FIOS account today and was offered a renewal rate of $119.99 (after 2 x $5 monthly discounts) for the "Verizon Triple Play with 2-year agreement" plus as an added incentive $300 in VISA Prepaid card.

The Triple Play is better than my current plan, better TV lineup, faster internet 25/25 and better features for phone serrvice. I know that there are better deals for new customers (or customers that are willing to go through the route of cancel and resignup) but for existing customers who are out of contract and do not want the hassle of canceling and resignup I believe this is a good deal....$300 in VISA Prepaid card. This is ofcourse YMMV since it could be location spcific.

normally its $89.99 (primeHD+15/25+Landline) for existing customers....with no contract....
so 119-89= $20 x 24months is > $300....

Our contract is up in three months , but this deal is close to what we pay now for the same package (we pay $125 from almost 2yrs ago) ; the benefit seems more to be with the $300 back for renewing the contract .

Iam hoping to add a free dvr (for life) or something when we renew (the added $300 visa bonus would be nice too) ; and hopefully dont have to do the cancel-resign up route .

Just a hint .... if you do this online , make sure you print out exactly what the promo is (and save it) ; as we had problems with our account upping the price a year later ($25 more a month) vs it staying the same for the full two yrs . Seems the computer system Verizon uses to keep track of all this stuff (differant promo's) is not up to the task of keeping things correct and we had to call to get the price back down to normal (kinda a pain) ; and this has happened more than once since we've been a FISO customer for about 8+yrs now .

Agreed with what you say but the $119.99 pricing includes: TVExtremeHD+25/25+Landline which is > primeHD+15/25+Landline

Just logged on to my account online and selected to change bundle, and they offer me different bundles with different prices.

Got $10 off for 2 year commitment, which lowers to $104.99 plus $300 visa card for any two year bundle.. i think its for upgrades online only..

I negotiated my plan which was out of contract over the phone.

Have the Extreme HD with Showtime like before for $119.99 less $30 a month loyalty credit for a year. Along with the $300 gift card.

Fios speeds 35/35.

Plan comes out to $89.99 for the first year. After the 1st year the service credit drops at which point I will negotiate again.

So, really quickly. I call and say I'm going to cancel and go to another cable provider and they start offering things? I'm currently out of contract and paying like ~$90 + DVR and boxes for 25/25 and the second best HD tier. I've never tried negotiating with a cable company before.

Yep. Once you say another competitors name and the offers you have been receiving to switch then you will get a great deal.
