starting tomorrow 1/27/12 at costco they will be selling AMC two tickets for $11.99. The sale will end 1/29/12. I repeat it starts 1/27/12

2 gold AMC movie tickets at costco for $15.99 (normal price) minus $4 instant coupon at the cash register = 2 gold tickets for $12.

gold tickets are usually unrestricted, no expiration date but will cost extra for 3D movies.

JAN 1/27 thru 1/29 LIMIT 10

You do not Need to be a Costco member to purchase them online but you do need to create a new account with them and you will be charged 4 $ extra ....NOT TRUE
Put the desired quantity of tickets in your cart, and go to checkout. Fill out the new registration, as if you were joining, with an email address and everything. THEN add 111778159721 on the Membership ID line. Thanks Worldco for the number.

Gold Ticket
*Covers price of NORMAL ticket (you will be charged whatever upcharge there is for 3D, IMAX, or IMAX 3D)
*No Restrictions (meaning you can use even for movies that say 'no passes')
*No expiration date

I bought 10 2 packs of these tickets at Costco Galleria in Houston. The greeter at the door had one of the cardboard sales vouchers. Inside, there were a bunch of vouchers on display near the front entrance. You only need one voucher, then tell the cashier the quantity that you want to purchase. Per, a Costco manager type, there is NO LIMIT, but there IS A LIMIT OF 10 rebates per member. At checkout, there was NO SALES TAX CHARGED!! The physical tickets are located in the secure storage area, and a manager type hands out the tickets and initials the sales slip over the line showing the tickets sold.

Actually buying at local store 2-pack for $12 is cheaper upto 10 packs (i.e. 10 tickets for $60 compared to $63 online). Here is the link at costco website, showing the prices.

Wtf is with you? Here's the answer to your original question:

Ppl pay to go to the movies because:

1. The experience of sharing a movie with others is worth the expense.
2. The experience of excellent sound and picture quality is worth the expense.
3. The experience of getting to see the latest movies months before they're available to purchase/rent/stream is worth the immediate expense.
4. Anyone with half a brain knows you don't need to spend anywhere near $100 to take out a family of four.

This deal allows you to take a family of four to the movies for $24. Throw in a medium combo with a free upgrade to a large with a Stubs membership and you're looking at $35 max.
Couldn't have said it better! Thanks for that, and repped...

Wow, I thought you got screwed at the concession counter. So taking a family of four can run you over $100 nowa days with tickets food and drinks walking up to a movie theater.

I'm not being cheap or anything but for 2 hours of entertainment in a theater with food that is super bad for you and drinks that cost more then a 12 pack of coke.. makes no sense to me.

Most of us have HDTV for movies now... good sound as well... better food and drinks to eat. Movies at the theater make no sense to me nowadays. I know it's the big screen... but I still think my HDTV shows better quality. Ya you get to see it early... but in a couple months I can rent it for a dollar or own it for $10.00. My couches are way more comfortable then the chairs at any movie theater.

I don't like waiting in line... I don't like seeing 20-50 commercials that I paid a lot of money to see before the movie. (depending how early you get into the theater). Popcorn is really good though.. but the secret is they cook it in Coconut Oil... I make better popcorn then theater popcorn.

Think about popcorn...The actual weight to price you pay is close to some of the rarest most delicious food in the world. My guess it's more then $35 a pound at the best price. XL super jumbo popcorn prob. weighs at best 3 oz... 16 oz to a lb so $7 big popcorn x 5... Over $35/ lb. probably costs them less then 25 cents to make.

I'm not flaming on movie theaters... I just don't logically get why they are so outrageous with price and people still pay it.

What am I not understanding that makes this experience so amazing?

We get out plenty and pay far less for more entertainment... so it's not a getting out of the house thing for me. I just don't get it.
It's the same reason why people go out and buy the newest video game for full price- $60. They could wait a couple months or a year and wait for the price to drop.

Some people like watching movies when they first come out. Not everyone goes to the movies to pay for overpriced concessions. I know I don't go there to buy popcorn or soda at twice the normal price.

Plus, it's the experience watching a movie at the theatres with your friends or significant other that makes the price worth it.

You sound extremely cheap and you're the type of person who would never go out to have fun- even if it costs a little bit of money. Stay at home and glue your face to the TV then. You won't make many friends that way. Makes me even wonder if you even have a significant other.

On a side note- not everyone has a high end HDTV or sound system.

If you are already complaining about a movie ticket that costs $6. I can't imagine how you would feel about the SuperBowl- people pay over $2000 to go watch it at the stadium. Let other people have their own choices. You need to realize just because it isn't worth it to you it doesn't mean you have to troll others who don't follow your beliefs. People spend money on things they think are worth it. You don't need to impose your beliefs on other people.

After reading your other insulting posts, I bet your future/current kids would really hate you.
