Canon T3i with 18-135mm Lens $889 @ Newegg

I am looking for a "good" deal on the T3i and this may be based upon the IS lens they are bundling with the body. The most unfortunate part of this "deal" is the games NE plays. Instead of posting the final price (after discount) you have to add it to your cart. At that point you still do not see the price. You then have to input your personal info before you can go to "secure" checkout and FINALLY see the price!

I've been shopping at NE since the 90s and enjoy doing business with them. Why do we have to play games just to see the price of an item?

I was able to snag the t3i On another deal for a lot cheaper. I don't think this is a great deal, but I don't know much about the lens.

While people peek in here, can anyone tell me if a Sandisk extreme iii SDHC card is suitable for the t3i? I got this exact one, perhaps someone can fill me in if I got the correct one. Sorry I am BRAND NEW to DSLR.Sandisk Extreme III Class 10 [amazon.com]

This package has been much cheaper from other places, as much as $50 or $60 (and that came with other accessories)

If you really want this combo, it'd be best to find a deal for the T3i body, because I'm sure that Ebay/Craigslist/etc have quite a few of these lenses pretty cheap; they came in package deals all through December

Depends what you are doing with the camera. If you don't plan on shooting a lot of video, it's probably overkill, since you could get a 16GB Class 10 card for that same price from other brands.

I use the 16GB version of that card myself, and it works well, but, I also use Magic Lantern and increase the bit-rate of my videos, so I need a card that can process a lot quickly.

I am brand new to professional photography so I don't know just yet what it will branch into. My other Camera is a Canon A720is and I loved shooting macro shots with it. I have taken a lot of impressive photos (at least in my opinion) with just a basic point and shoot and macro setting.

I am hoping that I can increase my photo knowledge, so I guess my next question is: You say it could be overkill, Is there any down side to this, other than I am not smart enough to utilize it to it's fullest extent? Does it hurt my camera? Does it prevent me from taking other types of photos?

I know this is not a "barn burner" of a deal, but the 18-135 lens package does not go on sale very often.

As far as the card, it wont hurt anything to have a nice card, pictures or video.

18-135mm lens, not the kit lens with the 18-55mm.

I was about to buy this at amazon for $919. Thanks OP you saved me $30. I was waiting for a nice deal on this combination T3i with 18-135 lens. The lowest I have seen is $850 at newegg around thanksgiving time. I cant wait any longer as I need this for the next weekend.

If you want to buy this now, this is the cheapest now. I think everyone is thinking about 18-55 lens when comparing this deal. This deal is for 18-135 lens.

One of my friends has narrowed down his selection to this camera, and has been looking for a deal. I think is pretty good deal. I will let him know.

I've read terrible reviews on the 18-135 lens, You would be better off (IMO) to get the 18-55 kit for $711, spend another $200 on a EF-S 55-250mm, or maybe just get one of the nifty 50's
