Thread Details

My place of work gave us a link to buy apple products at an employee pricing discount. So far I havent found much I would consider a major slickdeal. Though I am in the market for an iMac 27 inch with i7 processor and it was about $150 cheaper using this link. So I am passing this link on to see if any other slickdeals may be found:

It is obvious to me now that apples discount through epp can be beat by other online retailers quite easily. I am a fairly new slickdealer and am looking to buy a mac for the first time. Sorry I posted such a horrible link. But at least I learned not to purchase a Mac directly through Apple unless its a refurb. Thanks for the education and I hope this thread helps others in their Apple purchases.

This isn't employee pricing...as of the other day, Apple employees get $500 off any Mac and $250 off any iPad. Maybe this is teacher pricing or something similar.

It's the EPP - for employees of other companies that have a contract with Apple.

Apple EPP discounts vary by employer. The discount is whatever your employer negotiated with Apple. It can range from practically nothing to fairly substantial, but in any case is certainly guaranteed to be less than the discount provided to actual Apple employees.

Completely different! Thats for people that work directly for apple. This is employee pricing for employers that join apples epp program. Its not the big discounts that can be had by working for apple but those discounts are availabe once every 3 years to employees directly employed by apple.

I work for PBS and they have joined apples epp program and these are the discounts that are passed on to all pbs employees.

I think is a decent deal on an iMac as you cant buy the newest version on amazon with the i7 processor. Its regularly over $2200 without the discount.

it varies by item...the EPP discounts are by a percentage while the student discounts are flat rate...some items are cheaper on one and some on the other...

If deals are found feel free to add them wiki style to this thread.

Fail- apple charges tax. Negates any discount.

And this is old news.

Yes because the iMac with the i7 is a good deal considering you cant buy it on amazon. Try and find a better price. If you find one Ill delete the thread. Even with tax its a great deal. Unless someone knows where you can buy the latest model 27 inch with i7 at a better discount than $2065 pretax.

Wrong!!! That is the i5 processor version! Find the newest model with the i7 on amazon. Then you will be comparing apples to apples. Pun intended. Smilie
