Thread Details

This Tv just went on sale today (Sunday) and I went and picked one up. $848 for a smart 55" LED seemed like a good deal, but when I got it home I was in for a surprise this TV also offers 3D modes. 2D to 3D, side by side and top/bottom. There was nothing on the box saying anything about these 3D options, which I find really odd. Picture quality is amazing and I guess I need to get some 3D glasses to check this feature out.

It's 1.5" thick. I don't have any other LED's in the house, so I can't compare it to any right off hand. This was to replace a 47" LCD I've had for 3 years. I researched Hisense before purchasing and apparently the LCD panels are Samsung. Looks like Hisense is a popular brand in Australia, winning some sort of awards and such. One note is the stand isn't a flat, cheap-o plastic base like most. It's a 4 legged stand (like I've seen on some of the higher end Samsung models) made mostly of metal and is fairly heavy.

Is there a website that lists who makes what panels?

I checked on a TV part distribution website (Encompass parts) and Hisense and Element are put under the same brand catagory on that website. Also, I can't find any boards available, so I am not sure if there is any chance at repairing these if they die. I haven't bought a TV from Walmart ever, but I don't think Walmart cares for quality/longevity, so that's something to think about..

I thinks this is the same set...only one T39 series 55" led on their site. Walmart model # is F55T39EGWD so unless Hisense cheapened Walmart's set, this should be the same set. Note that it shows 3d as a feature, just as the OP mentioned.

emtaboy, I think this TV is the same TV as the Australian model you posted, but I do believe it is cheapened down a bit. Mine didn't come with any 3D glasses. Mine is 120hz, while the Australian model is 200hz...not sure any American model is 200hz anyways. One thing to note is the Australian model shows "wi-fi dongle sold separately", but the American model has wi-fi built in.

Warranty paperwork states parts and labor for 1 year. 37" and larger is in-home service. Smaller than that is ship or carry in. Wal-Mart offers a 3 year warranty for 99 bucks on this TV.

I just picked one up for $848 + tax!

The picture quality is pretty good. It came default with "energy saving" mode which seems to make the screen pretty dimmed, but just change it to standard and it came out well.

It's feature packed as well for this price. It supports both wired and wireless (don't need additional dongle or anything) connection. And it has 3D but no glasses included. In a quick start guide it says to call their number to ask to purchase the glasses so I assume glasses exist. It supports DLNA and comes with swivel stand.

This is a chinese brand (you can tell by going to www.hisense.com) and their US site is www.hisense-usa.com

It's pretty stylish too!

I would suggest to call hisense to see if they sell them directly though.
