Thread Details

This Tv just went on sale today (Sunday) and I went and picked one up. $848 for a smart 55" LED seemed like a good deal, but when I got it home I was in for a surprise this TV also offers 3D modes. 2D to 3D, side by side and top/bottom. There was nothing on the box saying anything about these 3D options, which I find really odd. Picture quality is amazing and I guess I need to get some 3D glasses to check this feature out.

not alot of info on this company and tv specs. does any one know if this tv does arc [audio return]. and what hdmi version is that. thanks
This TV doesn't support ARC. I still like this TV and think it's a great price, but there are a few issues. The LED edge lighting is uneven. On mine the top corners are a bit lighter on a totally black/blank screen. It's also a little uneven in the middle in a couple of places. Not really a big deal and from what I've read this isn't uncommon with different brands of edge-lit LED-LCD's. Took me forever to get the code for this TV to use on my Yamaha receiver remote. Even with that code, only basic functions will work and hitting the input selection sends it to the usb input and locks it up. Kinda makes using the receiver remote useless.

Just wanted to let you know the box really isn't big. Before we bought this TV we orginally purchased the 55" from Hhgregg and that box was huge and transporting that TV was a pain.

My boyfriend has a 01' Honda Accord Coupe. We folded down the back seats and fit it in through the trunk and it worked perfect. We secured it in the trunk with the foam from the box, covered it with a sleeping bag and the plastic and twined the trunk down. As for the box we just broke it down and stuck in the back seat. Depending on the width of your trunk I'd assume you could do the same, you might even be able to close the trunk. Hope this helps.
Yes, the box is smaller than I thought as well.
For those yet to pick it up, the box fit in my 05 Scion tc. I just had to put the back seat down and move up the front seats.

Quick update:

Today I played Killzone 2 for the PS3 on this TV and I can't believe it was that bad. I thought 8ms was going to be okay. I'm not positive but my Samsung LCD was 8ms too but it was tolerable. Other than this problem (not being able to play fast-paced video games), it looks really good. I'm currently watching the movie Up and it looks amazing.

I play video games once in a while and I would want to be able to play them without any borders. Would be nice if there was a gaming mode for this set. Or if anyone out there knows how I can fix this, please do let me know! Thank you

I am assuming these are Active 3D glasses with battery? (vs passive polaroids that works with some vizio tv - 3d movie theater kind).

Should the 3D glass need to be from Hisense for it to work ?

Can you feel '3D' effect on any channels/movies or the it should be a 3D channel or 3D DVD?

Is there an application market to download any apps for the smart TV (say for example youtube or facebook etc)

How do I get flashplayer or such apps for the browser ?

Thanks in advance.

I got this TV last week. I called around and finally found a Walmart that had one left (about 15 miles away) so I got it. I am glad I did. The picture is great. We will get a soundbar for it because I think the sound was not so great but otherwise I am happy. Great Deal! Smilie

I pulled the trigger on this Saturday at my local Walmart. They had the 55T39 priced at $660. I left it at the store while I went home to do some research. After going home and doing research on it I decided to return it and hold out for something more reliable.
Can you scan your receipt so we can try to PM?

OP there's no such thing as coaxial audio out (coaxial is what cable modem/TV use from wall to your device, thick with a metal screw and pin in middle). Did you mean composite audio out only? Is it digital composite (just single) or analog (white and red) out?
Make sure you know of what you speak. Of course there is coax audio. It's called SPDIF, or the Sony-Philips Digital Interface. Single coaxial cable digital audio using RCA jacks.

In fact, virtually all analog or digital cables with RCA connectors are coaxial cable because of the shielding advantage.

For $848 for a gorgeous tv (even when off), I can easily forgive not having ARC and use a spdif cable. I added GoogleTV and still didn't reach the $1000 mark.

All edge lits are uneven, but it's only noticeable on black screens. The picture is otherwise very good as long as you have good source material (which most tv channels don't yet).
This TV seems to share codes with Vizio TV, as it was messing with my Vizio I use as my computer monitor while programming my Harmony.

I never use the included remotes except for programming. All that time looking up arbitrary codes just to have limited function is a waste.

Get a Harmony remote, and the possibilities are endless.

Has anyone confirmed who the manufacturer is?

Does this tv have color calibration settings?

Do you see anything like separate red, green, and blue controls like gain or bias?
No, but after calibrating what I could with my DVE DVD, and a calibration app on GoogleTV, I was really able to improve the quality. Admittidely the picture was pretty bad out of the box. Shame some of you returned it before calibrating.

I think Best Buy's calibration service is overpriced, but you can buy a DVD or BD calibration disc and do it yourself. Plus, it will work on all of your displays. Spears & Munsil, Joe Kanes' Digital Video Essentials, and Disney's World of Wonder are all good.
