Thread Details

This Tv just went on sale today (Sunday) and I went and picked one up. $848 for a smart 55" LED seemed like a good deal, but when I got it home I was in for a surprise this TV also offers 3D modes. 2D to 3D, side by side and top/bottom. There was nothing on the box saying anything about these 3D options, which I find really odd. Picture quality is amazing and I guess I need to get some 3D glasses to check this feature out.

IMO, it's a great value for the money. My biggest gripe, although not that big of a deal, is the lack of audio optical out. This TV uses coax for audio out. Not a huge deal, but I had to dig around in my junk cabinet for a coax cable, since I always have used optical on my other TV's.

Hi

Can you tell me if it plays divx etc from the USB please?

The AUS site states Hisense USB is only for support.

This would be a deal breaker for me.

Can you also list all of the apps on the TV

thanks for your help

I pulled the trigger on this Saturday at my local Walmart. They had the 55T39 priced at $660. I left it at the store while I went home to do some research. After going home and doing research on it I decided to return it and hold out for something more reliable.
This price would make me buy it today. Have your receipt still, and if so, willing to scan/post?

I know wal-mart wont price-match between their own stores, but it might give me some leverage.

I can't speak specifically on divx, but it should work. I've hooked an external HDD and a SD card to the USB and I can confirm this TV plays jpg pics, avi video and mp3 audio perfectly. I believe divx is just a form of avi, correct?

There is also an options setting from within the USB mode. For instance, playing a avi gives you choice of your TV picture settings and one that I really like is the repeat option, which also has "repeat all." I like the repeat all if I am playing a TV series off the HDD, so it plays the next episode after the last one ends and repeats them all.

I know a guy who works at Walmart. I asked him about it and this was his response.

I asked the electronics manager about that tv and she said it's cheap cause the company is just starting with walmart and is selling low to get their name out. She said its a decent tv and has had hardly any returns so far.

Expecting decent sound of of any TV is just silly. It seems like a pretty standard price, so i may wait for more data, but it just went on my very short list.

Things im still curious abuot

A) Crosstalk levels in 3d
B) well, ummm, that seems about it

Its pretty awesome that its apps are open source too, I use opera on my main pc anyway, have for decades, really like it
What are open source apps?
Also, what is Opera Web Browser? My new Vizio wont let me browse the web.

I am looking to be able to us Pandora (does the TV support Flash 8), Netflix, You Tube etc.

Any word on which, if any glasses will work with this TV? So tempted to get it, but I want to be sure I can actually use the 3D feature.

OP there's no such thing as coaxial audio out (coaxial is what cable modem/TV use from wall to your device, thick with a metal screw and pin in middle). Did you mean composite audio out only? Is it digital composite (just single) or analog (white and red) out?

I rarely ever write on this wonderful forum but i believe the OP is meaning to say coaxial digital / digital coaxial (depending on who is saying it). I have never heard of digital composite. So i am thinking you're describing the same thing as the OP. I am surprised that it doesn't have a optical output considering all the features packed in this tv.I am going to take a gamble and buy this tv tomorrow.

I am also going to roll the dice on buying the "universal" 3d glasses that are on sale at Best Buy this week. Wal-Mart's webpage shows some 3d glasses that are Hisense compatible. Those glasses are compatible with the Sony 3d set as well. So, by using some very weak logic, i am thinking the ones made by Sony may work. I'll let you all know. Thank you OP.

This TV uses coaxial cable for audio out instead of optical cable. This> http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex...Id=9699089
