Official DOTA 2 Thread - Find other people to play with here!

As per someone's suggestion in the other thread, I figured we should start an actual DOTA 2 thread to discuss strategies, tips etc... The other thread is for keys/invites, so I think its good to separate the two.

I'm not new to DOTA, but I'm not good, lol. But I figure this is a good chance to learn the game when there are more new people and maybe move onto LoL where the rest of my friends are playing, haha.

If we could get like 10 people to log on at a given time, we could probably play closed matches with each other (play a match- if it becomes lopsided, scramble the teams etc..). Turn it into a pseudo- teaching session.

This would be a good place for newbies to get pointers and veterans to get commendation points. I don't know what valve has in store for this system in terms of rewards...but this would be a good place to get a head start.

In all honesty, carries have the more simple job of just having to be the one to farm and get kills.Supports have to worry about buying courier/flying courier, warding continuously, and using their abilities to not only stun/slow/harass the enemy, but to heal allies or use whatever other friendly spells they have. I think people say to mostly learn supports first because if you die in team fights, it's not as big of a deal as if you'd pick a carry and die because you are still new

I'd say the easiest way to learn is really just to pick the simplest hero, regardless of the roll. Having someone that only has say 1-2 abilities, a passive, and an ult is a lot easier to learn with then to learn with someone who has 4-6 active abilities, can control neutrals, go invis, or take use of other mechanics.

Crystal Maiden was the first hero I learned with back when I got invited last November. She's pretty simple with only 3 active abilities, and a passive that gives mana regen to the entire team. Just remember that if you play support, make sure to at least keep constant wards up at both rune locations.

Thanks to SlickDeals,i got a Samsung 40" LED 1080p tv from Target for $372. I also got a set of 2 memory foam pillows for $16. Thanks to Christ, I get to go to Heaven, even though I don't deserve it.

Didn't help that the other bots were stomping my ally bots even before they killed me a few times. Oh well, maybe I need to jump in the fray with real people.
