Mac Upgrade to Leopard.. Help!!
So I just upgraded my RAM to 8 gb on my laptop and wanted to upgrade the software to leopard. I cannot find it anywhere! Any help is appreciated. I want newer software that allows preview to write text on pdf files since I take all my grad school notes on my computer. Thanks in advance for any help!

Model? Current OS? If you refer to your husband/wife as 'DH/DW', you're too old to be active on a forum.
If you ask for marriage advice on a(ny) forum, you should seriously reevaluate your life. If you don't know the difference between 'their', 'there', and 'they're', I automatically assume you have a mental disability (same goes for to/two/too and your/you're/yore). |

If you have a Mac laptop that actually supports 8gb of ram, chances are it supports a newer version of OS X. Leopard is pretty outdated, the only reason to upgrade to it would be you still have a PPC mac.
Lion is the OS you should be trying to upgrade to. What is the model of your Mac and the approximate manufacture date? For pdf annotation, free http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/ would be my choice Last edited by jkee; 01-30-2012 at 02:47 PM.. |

To the OP here is the upgrade. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A You can also buy it from the app store online for digital distribution. Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

If OP is truly looking to upgrade to Leopard then he has no access to the App store since you need at least Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to get the app store to be able to download that. In this case Cheetah 10.0 < Puma 10.1 < Jaguar 10.2 < Panther 10.3 < Tiger 10.4 < Leopard 10.5 < Snow Leopard 10.6 < Lion 10.7 (or something like that). Leopard was the last OSX to run on Non-Intel (PowerPC) platforms. Assuming OP is on Tiger, if he has a PPC machine, Leopard is as far as he can go. If he has an Intel machine, he can probably only go as high as Snow Leopard since Lion requires a Core2Duo or better CPU and IIRC nothing pre-Leopard was Core2Duo or better. As was asked above, OP, which machine do you have? W Last edited by WarrenM; 01-30-2012 at 03:18 PM.. Speed does not kill. In fact speed never killed anyone. OP, please identify your computer. Go to the Apple menu, choose "About This Mac", note what it says for memory current version of OS X, and click the More Info button and note what it says for the model eg. MacBook4,2
Then post these items. I don't think there are any Mac laptops that support 8gb of ram (your computer may not actually recognize 8gb of ram) that shipped with less than OS X 10.5 (Leopard). You really should upgrade to the latest version your computer supports. Do check out skim, it's an awesome program for annotating pdfs. Last edited by jkee; 01-30-2012 at 06:35 PM.. |
