I have been watching prices on this modem for around 1 year. You will not find it for less than this - within a buck or two. Someone posted this type of price match/coupon combo several weeks ago, and I jumped on it.

Excuse my ignorance but how do you do the price match? Can it be done online? Showing 99.99 for me. I've never done a Staples.com price match before.

You can either call 1-800-STAPLES (or) through their online chat tell them to price match with Amazon after placing an order with Staples with 25 off 75 coupon applied. I called them as the online chat was not working.

So will it work better for me if I have Comcast 20/5 plan ?

I'm on the Blast plan with a decade old Docsis 2.0 modem. Docsis 2.0 supports the Blast tier just fine at the present, it doesn't seem necessary to upgrade as of yet as I'm not on the Extreme 50/ Extreme 100 tiers which would require docsis 3.0.

Hmm - so unless we are on 50-100mbps plans this is not even relevant ?

Not necessarily. I will probably get one just because the Docsis 2 frequencies are crowded and have been unreliable lately.

It is supposed to be, however, a lot of people report getting higher speeds with this modem. Usually if they are on a tier of 15/2 or higher. I had the 10/1 plan and I was getting the same speed as the modem they provided (docsis 2.0).

You can always buy it and test it. Staple will allow you to return it within 14 days so you have nothing to lose.

I'm getting this simply because I am not going to pay $7/mo to comcast anymore for modem rental. I will break even on this in 8 months.

I have Comcast as well, not sure what speed my plan is. Actually I don't really know much about what I'm paying for, can't seem to find an itemized bill.

Anyways, speedtest.net rates me at 25mbps down and 4mbps up (roughly).

If I buy this modem, can I return the comcast modem? I have phone too, but I am going to buy Ooma... so I assume I can run my coax through this, then to Ooma, then to router?

I'd just like to stop renting things from Comcast really.

edit: looks like I have the performance 12mbps plan.

If you don't already own a modem and need to buy one, get this as you definitely want a Docsis 3.0 modem to future proof yourself.
