Is this a decent P+S replacement at this price or are there better alternatives? Need a new camera since our last P+S got the LCD cracked. The wife isn't too technical and think maybe this one is too much for her to comprehend unless it has some "idiot-proof" settings.

In terms of picture quality and an outstanding P&S, you're going to be hard-pressed to find anything better at this price and even up until you top $300.
This is, simply, a fantastic camera. I fell into an impossible to pass up deal on a Canon SX40HS SuperZoom (which is amazingly good and takes some of the best HD video I've ever seen) - otherwise, I was just standing on the sidelines waiting for a deal on the PEN E-PL1. In fact, it was one of the only specific deal alerts that I've ever set up in my 6+ yrs here at Slickdeals. (which is how I saw this deal) At $229.99 with a warranty, I think this is a smokin' deal. (Whoever rated the thread thumbs down under, "not a good product"....you are camera illiterate and a bonehead, fyi.) |
