Get an extra 4.5 GB of Dropbox online storage free

Here are all the other ways I found to maximize free Dropbox storage space. I've tested all these personally. Let me know if there are others. I'm open to PMs, thanks.

1) Get referred by a current user - 2.25GB otherwise 2GB if you are not referred
2) Complete at least 5 of 7 easy getting started tutorial steps - 250MB

5) Link your account to a .edu email address - doubles storage referral bonus (retroactively as well) to 500MB per referral up to 16GB

Cool deal. I can't imagine they'll turn around and take away space from people contributing to the testing, but I suppose anything is possible.

Have added enough to earn an additional 3.5GB so far, so expect I'll have the full 4.5GB shortly.

Regarding comments on .edu accounts, can you get the same benefits by switching an existing account over? I have a .edu email account, but didn't realize the benefits at the time and used a different non-edu account.

Are other people having trouble with XP? The autoplay menu comes up, and I select dropbox, but nothing happens after that.

Anybody knows how to put videos on your iPhone while making the DropBox app sync the videos? So far, it doesn't realize them as new videos and it won't upload them

It is. Has better features. However, what's holding box back is that it has no desktop client/app. So you don't get to easily sync/upload. You have to use their website to make changes. It's a widely requested feature, and I believe they do have some kind of poll you can take part in to let them know it's something they should do. Actually, I believe they do have a great desktop client, however it's limited to their business users =/.

I would say, file size restriction.
AFAIK, the box will only allow file not bigger than either 150MB or 200MB (I forgot the size cause I have not uploaded to box for quite some time).

I am not sure for dropbox, but I just uploaded a single 500MB file to it and it accepted it.

So what you're saying is that it is superior...except in the way that most people actually use it, where it completely fails. Gotcha.

Yes exactly, and only because they choose to cater to the business end of things. This is why I still mainly use dropbox.
