Just an update, I bought a Garmin 1300LM new on ebay for 79.99, beats tomtom anyday (having owned garmin for many years, they have been very reliable)

For $80, that Garmin is a nice unit.

Hey TomTom, thanks a lot for cancelling my order. Because of that, I would be able to make a purchase of a Garmin 50LM this coming Sunday for only $85. I immediately bought a 50 at Walmart for $99.99 right after this fiasco but the deal coming this Sunday is even better for cheaper!

TomTom, pat yourself on the back for screwing yourself outta a customer. (actually 2 in my family, myself and my wife). And I'm sure there'll be many others who will agree and join my ship.

Making mistake on ONE Top Gear GPS ordered by a new customer: potential cost: $150
Cost to send cancellation email to the customer: $2.99
Cost to give the refund back to the customer: $1.99
Cost of two GPS units that customer gives to your competitor (Garmin): $200

Cost to lose that customer and many others for life (words of mouth thumb-down from that customer to as many people as he can): PRICELESS

System generated emails are relatively cheap...3$ seems mega steep. It is limited edition, it is possible they actually don't have 100,000 GPS units to send out...and rather than deal with substitutions that people will undoubtedly complain about and cause even more trouble. They just cancel. Makes perfect sense.

On a serious note, I much prefer Garmin.
