Delta Change Fee

You're pretty much SOL... There are certain things they will waive a change fee for more often than not but unless someone has died you're gonna have to pony up.

No Airlines will waive the fees.........In future we need to book the tkt with the Airline which has low change fees like spirit/southwest....I learned that hard way by paying $560......

I just got ripped off by United for using Credit.........I had around $560 for 2 tks credit from previously canceled tkts.......
So here is the scenario.......I'm planning to go to Las Vegas from Chicago......

New tkt available for $235 with Spirit Air Lines....

If I want to use MY $560 ( 1+1 tkts ) credit I have to book Tkt with United and their prices are higher for the same Route.....
United Tkt price $375 = $280 Credit - $150 Fees + $245 (Additional difference I have to Pay)

For 2 tkts I will pay = $560 Credit + $245 + $245 Difference = Total $1050

So its better to book new tkt with Spirit($235) any pay even less then the difference($245) I have to pay to use my $560 credit........

Unfortunately, Fishbait, unless your situation is pretty extreme (like a family death like LivninSC said, for this situation you probably will have to pay the fee.

In the future, book with Southwest where there are no change fees. I wouldn't book anything on Spirit Air even if the ticket were free. They have absolute contempt for their "passengers", not customers, but "passengers". Their customer service is horrendous . . . actually, nonexistent. By the way, with Southwest you are a customer, not a "passenger".

And FYI - if you claim it is of the unfortunate type I have heard of airlines wanting proof. A colleague of mine a couple years back was going to fly up and see her sister who was pregnant. Well anyways she had a miscarriage and she called to change her ticket so she could go up there immediately. They friggin wanted proof. No way she was gonna call her sister up and get a doctor's note or something so she just bought a new ticket. It's sad they don't believe you but at the same time it's because then everyone would have a death in the family every time they wanted to change the ticket

Although it is pretty sad that they want proof... wouldn't you want proof as a business?

Your only hope is if Delta changes your flight schedule on you by > 1 hour. If they do, you can call and just change the day on the phone for free. If not, well, no...

How does it work if they change it by > 1 hour? Both legs of my R/T flight recently got pushed back by 1h10m and now I want to cancel. Any experience with this? Thanks.

You call them and say now that you are arriving an hour later that won't accommodate your business sched. They should let you cancel. And fyi other posters even with a death most airlines still won't wave change fees. And yes they will make you produce a death cert...in some cases...if they even waive...which most won't.

I had success a couple years, but i think it was just lucky. I changed the flight 2 days after i booked it because the prices substantially changed and better flights were then available. The new flight was about the same cost so i didn't get any money back. At first they said they couldn't, but after a little while of talking to them and being transfered a few times they agreed. It was a flight for a family member to attend my wedding.

The other half of the ticket is good for 1 year. Can't you book another round trip for $150 or less ?
