Unless you shoot sports, racing, or other action. But other then that, I agree.

I don't know which statement is more ridiculous. The part that AF is overrated or the part that if we have a problem with AF we have to use P&S cameras.

If you shoot wildlife at long focal lengths, sports in pretty much any form, or other fast moving objects, you'll miss as many if not more MF pictures than with AF.

That said, the 5D isnt a sports camera, so it shouldn't have great AF. The advantage of full-frame is you can go wider and higher res, which lens itself to landscape, architecture, and portraits, none of which need MF. Likewise for video. Give it the 19-point focus of the 7D at most.

Look for the combos on Adorama and try adding to your cart. Don't try the body + lens separately as it doesn't appear to be working yet. Here's a link to a 60D with 18-135 and 17-55 that is $2019 in cart:

Easy to get 3% back at M r rebates ($60) and easy to unload the 18-135 on Craigslist for $275. Net cost for 60D body and 17-55 is $1683. Not bad, in my opinion, but not exactly smoking (especially for having to do any work). B&H and Adorama both raised prices across the board to cover this double rebate promotion, but it appears the promo is buried in the sites' pricing.

You guys might also want to keep an eye on Amazon, I just got an email from Canon that they are doing more bundle combos with the T2i/T3i/T3, similar to the last round of deals in Nov/Dec. $150 savings on 75-300, $200 savings on 55-250, and $300 savings on 70-300.

What's the point of having double rebate if the sites increase the prices across the board from the get go to compensate. At best, you need to buy an expensive body in order to make it a wash with the old rebate. At worst, the people who are purchasing just a lens or a flash are paying retail prices. Yuck.

Any ideas on if these would apply to lenses that go with T2i. I am a newbie and plan on mostly shooting indoor photos for our new kid.

I am debating between T2i and nikon d5100. These rebates may make me go with T2i. TIA

Looking for a wide angle lens for my 70D. I'm leaning towards the EF-S 15-85 f/3.5-5/6, but should I consider the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 ?

Anyone with these lenses care to comment?

10-22 hands down, L-quality glass for an EF-S lens mount. Its fantastic and you'll be astounded how wide 10mm is. Minimal pincushining, and the least amount of flare from any UWA lens.

Those are two completely different lenses, ultimately. If you've got a lens that covers 22mm-85mm, then definitely go with the 10-22, it's a great ultra-wide. If you don't already have a walk-around lens, then the 15-85 covers most of the useful range for street photography and everyday shooting in a way the 10-22 can't.
