Rite Aid - Load2Card +ups - Nationwide 9.2.12

Is it just me or is this a super lame week at Rite Aid? Stayfree and possibly TMF Phys Formula are the only things on my list (well that and the bottles of Youth Code face wash my jedi store ordered for me that should arrive on Tuesday).

First Sunday in awhile I won't be making a trip out there.

Store Manager told me today that there will be a way to opt out of the L2C ups. He was going to study it next week and then tell me how to do it. Only 3 markets are in the test. RA knows there are flaws, SM not real excited about this because there are so many unknowns--like how do you know which ups are going to be selected for you when you check out.

There will be a print out on receipt telling you which ups were loaded onto card.

30 minutes after picking a manager's brain...here's what I learned (I'm in the test market). 1) After 6am the following day, you will be able to log on the load2card site to put a hold on any manufacturer coupon (UPs included) so they will not apply until you release that hold. 2) You are required to have your card scanned to use the UPS (phone # not an option now). 3) And, once your card is scanned, any UP not on hold will apply automatically BEFORE paper coupons. UNLESS YOU DO THIS: 1) Put UPs on hold you don't want to use, 2) scan items, 3) scan paper coupons, 4) scan card to have any further coupons/UPs applied. Oh - and early March they are unrolling an app for smartphones so you can place/release holds on the fly. Still boo hiss to RA for these changes, it's waaaay more work that it should be.


My commentary: It sounds like instead of making things easier, day-by-day Rite Aid is making more hoops for us to jump through and unnecessarily complicating things. If this scheme is activated nationwide one day, I would expect to see a mass exodus of customers leaving Rite Aid for other stores that don't play these kind of games....

I am in MA. My load2card info shows no UPS. All the other expected ups printed on the receipt. There was no "max" winter rewards message.

That is so ridiculous its *almost* funny. What customer is going to want to, let alone remember to, do all of that?!? So crazy. Whoever came up with this concept should be fired, to say the least. Why make the shopping experience anymore complicated? Shop. Pay. Leave.

No, it'll let you know when/what/if a +up is loaded to your card.

I am usually a lurker here but this new L2C test market thing inspired me to register and post. Apologies in advance if I do anything wrong. Usually I don't have any information to add to what is already in the Rite Aid threads, but today I may have new information (or I could just be repeating something from a different thread - I'm really sorry if I am!) Note that I am in a test market.

1. The cashier at my store this morning had the email out that explained the changes. I was reading it upside down while he checked me out and noticed that it said that when the UPs are redeemed, they will come off from highest value to lowest value.

2. The PF UP did not track or print or load to my card. I bought the Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth Boosting Foundation + Brush with the TMF peelie for $14.95 and the pHmatchmaker powdered blush for $6.47 (50% off of $12.95). Subtotal was $21.42. The cashier gave me a $5 gc because the UP didn't print.

My +ups from today showed up on the load2card site already(surprised). Looks like I can unclip the reward. I hope I dont lose it if I unclip it. Tried another transaction at another RA to see if it would apply the +up reward before 6am the next day. No dice.

Problems already. I should have (4) $2+up rewards from stayfree but it only shows (1)

Wait........so it still prints on your receipt that you got the +UP.......I'm not really seeing the point of this whole idea of loading the +UPs onto your card. Sounds very dumb to me. Thank God I'm not in the test market.

I spoke with the manager at my RA last night and she still hasn't heard anything about the new load to card program or not being able to use your rewards the same day as received.

I explained as best I could and she got really p*ssed, saying this is only going to drive away customers. No one wants to go through all that mess just to get a free pack of gum or save 75% on tampons. I know I don't.

And I won't.

Wow.... I thought I was going to actually like the UPS being loaded to the card since I do my transactions w/o much planning. But this way that is being implemented is really just not fair.

So if I understand correctly. Paper coupons will not come off UNLESS you log on to loadtocard.com and "release" the UPS. In other words, if your subtotal is $35.00 and your UPS balance is $36.00, once the cashier hits total you have no chance of having manu coupons apply because the UPS will apply first?

Actually stay free is limit of 3 so you should have had 3 of the $2UPS did you tell them that at the store? Oh wait, you didn't know that until you got home, right? Oh this is going to be a headache....

And you did not know about NOT getting the UPS until you arrived home and looked on your computer, correct?!

Correct, the receipt had a note saying they got loaded, but I had to wait til I got home to check the load2card site.

For my next trip, I'll have the load2card site loaded on my phone and see how long for/if it's to be posted.

That's how I understand it. You have to know the exact UP & Q amount before you leave home. Your kid sees a cute toy? Spur of moment purchases are a no-go.
I don't think RA is interested in staying in business. In the short term "Oops sorry about that unintended redemption" may work for them. Slightly longer term, many second and third shopping trips that were supposed to include fat stacks of Qs, cash and Ups may never happen

That will make my daughter very unhappy she is always getting something. I agree.


How can you plan with stock issues. I am lucky if I plan out things and get half of what I want. Then what if by miracle they do have what I want or a raincheck item came in.

I am so glad you all understand in this thread it makes me feel better knowing I am not alone.

I will be one leaving if this goes nationwide. I can't even access the load to card with my 4 year old apple laptop. It just goes to an external redirect and then I get a server busy message. I'm sure not going to buy a new laptop so I can shop at Rite Aid. Not to mention all the other issues with this test program.

Well, maybe if enough people continue to complain via thier FB page( oh, by the way is anyone here Fiona Shrek? they may not roll it out nationally, and discontinue the test market. Remember the Fall Savings last year when it was just the actual OOP counting? People flooded the FB page complaining and just like that it was changed to OOP before coupons. So I say we all just keep biotching to them via Facebook.. Strength in numbers!!

ETA: While I am not a complete idiot... I really cannot wrap my brain aroung things that get too technical, and sadly, this may suck the life out of me trying to keep up with loading/unloading UPS, unchecking them/checking them...etc. and forcing me to give up on RA completely due to too much time/energy having to be invested.

DO NOT unclip your +up reward from load2card.

I unclipped a $2+up and it disappeared.

And the $#*! continues to hit the fan... Honestly, how did they think this was NOT going to be an epic FAIL?!

Tried to "opt-out" of the test market but the associates and asst. mgr couldn't manage it.

They offered a copy of an internal email that explains that in order to facilitate using +ups without the physical card (using phone #) load2card is the ONLY option today. It sounds like they are working out the kinks on the fly and that we'll be able to opt out soon.

It also states :"+Ups are processed for redemption by value of the +Up, highest value first. Seems like it should be based on expiration date but yeah. Got a 10 +Up loaded. Have to see how it goes.

I went into my favorite store today. Had a good long talk with my friend there. We went over the info/training manual they have for load2card. Found where it tells how to opt out a customer. Went to go try it... No dice. They (according to another employee that inquired) turned off the opt out option! And she said her source didn't know if/when they would turn it back on! I am livid!

I'm guessing they removed the opt-out option for the test markets. If they didn't, then it would be possible for everyone to opt-out and then they wouldn't have any guinea pigs... er... test subjects? I can only that they do indeed have an opt-out option if/when it goes nationwide.

Load2Card: Wrong name, Wrong wellness+ number..

So I go to RiteAid.com and there are 2 ways to get to Load2Card. I can click on wellness+ on the left side of screen, log in and then click Load2Card.. Or I can click Load2Card first, then log into wellness+..

Whenever I log in FIRST, and then go to Load2card I get my account.

Whenever I click Load2Card FIRST, then log in I get logged into wellness+, I don't get my name or wellness+ account. It seems I'm just logging into some random account.
