I have King Kong DD-WRT build on mine. Have you tried that? Is toastman better?
Toastman Tomato has most of the functions that people reasonably use, while not being weighed down by the questionable business practices of dd-wrt. Tomato also has functional and robust QoS, while you have to pay for it with dd-wrt.
If you want to actually build the binaries from source, SD probably isn't the best place to ask.
It should be noted that this router is simply amazing when it comes to flexibility due to its third-party firmware compatibility and gigantic flash RAM, but it's kind of slow when it comes to pure router throughput, both wired and wireless.
