I got these with the matching center speaker (can't remember the model number) and they have turned out to be a good 'budget' set of home theater speakers.

From what I've researched, these are pretty solid speakers. Also, can't beat the price for those of us with limited resources that cannot afford $3-500/speaker. I plan to pair with the Center channel speaker on sale (http://slickdeals.net/f/3916108-P...after-code) and a subwoofer.

Will look for rear speakers at later time.

for those who want black- the front grill is still black- just the case is red. I guess if you were desperate you could paint it black with some flat paint?

They just lowered the price on the black ones, $129 each. Same goes for the CS2 center.

I'm REALLY on the fence if I should buy the cherry...

I run 60's in the front, a CS2 center, and 40s in the back. I run them all on a STR-DG1000 and I get some pretty good sound out of them. As you mention, the 40s should sound similar to the 50s. Your Pioneer will push similar (a bit less) power to your speakers, so I can vouch that is a solid soundstage. As for the sub, I use an older 12" Sony, but I've continually heard negative comments about the PSW10 - perhaps someone else can provide a recommendation. For your center channel, a CS1 is probably sufficient, but I'd recommend the CS2. The sound I get out of mine is so large and clear. Considering that is where your dialogue will be focused during any shows/movies, I'd take another look at it.

In regards to the sub (PSW10) I would highly recommend the BIC F-12 in it's place. MUCH more bang for the buck. I have listened to a few of the Polk subs and have come away unimpressed. I have two BIC F-12's and am extremely happy with the purchases.

Personally I think the PSW10 is too small of a sub for floorstanding speakers. If you want to stick with Polk go with PSW125 would be the way to go IMO. Otherwise look into a lava or the BIC F-12. Or a used SVS (I have one of these...AMAZing...)
