wouldn't say I am a expert but I have played around and set up a few system before (former Frys employee: dept electronic component)

As for top name brand of security system Lorex and Swann would be it, but you gonna be paying a little more for them (similar spec and features). From my experience I like the Swann system, better features and more range of cameras.

Keep in mind regarding to most All-In-One system is that the cameras included are rather lesser quality than the separately sold one. Unless you looking a the more higher price All-In-One system.

The DVR that is bundled for the most part are pretty good.

In regards to the two system you listed (never played with the Aposonic) feature wise the night owl seem to have better features, however the camera on the Aposonic seems better (on paper that is)

6mm vs the 2.8mm cameras = viewing angles the 2.8mm has a larger viewing angle.
6mm = 42 degrees
2.8mm = 65 degrees

Picture Quality (color) comes down to sensor used in camera:
SONY CCD is the better option, Sharp CCD for the most part lack in color.

Resolution for both camera are the same which is 420 TV line which is okay but you can get better with separately sold cameras that can go up to 600 TV line. Higher resolution the clear/sharper the image will be.

Spend a little more for better camera, as you are making a investment to protect your assets, no point in saving money and buying a set of bad camera that can not do its job properly.
