Nook Tablet- $229, Nook Color- $179, Nook Simple Touch- $84 w/ FS at Quill (can also PM at Staples for $180 Nook Tablet or $44 Nook STR AC/AR)

Quill has the Nook devices on sale. All are brand new (not refurbs), have free shipping, and come with standard one year warranty.

Nook Tablet- $229 [quill.com]

Nook Color- $179 [quill.com]

Nook Simple Touch Reader- $84 [quill.com]

First time I have seen a sale on the Tablet. Also, in case you are not up to speed- there is an SD card root available [xda-developers.com] for the Tablet now to turn it into dual-boot Android tablet.

I successfully PMed the Nook Tablet to Staples with a $30 off $150 coupon (that I paid $2 for) and will receive the $20 Staples GC as well (per chat rep) so paid $182 plus tax after GC and cost of coupon ($202 OOP).

This is how I did it:

Quote :

1. bought coupon at coupon website (google 30 off 150 staples)
2. placed order w/ coupon online (no contact w/ rep- coupon worked fine for Tablet even though it is supposed to exclude Nooks)
3. filled out easy rebate form that came in email order confirmation
4. chatted with rep to get PM on order I had already placed
5. got PM confirmed (will be refunded $20 difference)
6. asked about easy rebate GC to confirm that it would not be affected by PM
7. saved chat for future reference in case something happens w/ rebate ($20 GC) or PM

If you want the Nook Simple Touch Reader, you can do the same thing with a $25 off $75 coupon and a $15 gift card rebate for $44 total ($59 OOP- $15 GC).

Thanks, this is not the Kindle Fire though. The Tablet stands on its own merits especially now that you can do the dual boot root from an SD card.

And the $119 was for a refurb Nook Color (which I bought). This is new which might be important for some people. Even though it is not the slickest price ever, it is the best price right now.

Yes, there is info and link in the OP. You can do the dual boot from the SD card just like with the Nook Color.

Double the storage (and expandability with microSD card slot), better battery life, and double the RAM [geek.com] sold me on the Tablet but I was waiting for the ability to root it without forfeiting the warranty (and a sale price) before I jumped. Now that they got around the boot loader problem and I can get all the Android apps I want without being locked into the B&N app store, I am in for a Tablet.

It's also a lot lighter and thinner than the fire. If you can get Cyanogenmod 9 on this, it'll be sweeet. I think I'm gonna hold out for the asus 370 for 249 though, we'll see how long I can wait tho.

One was brand new, and one came in a refurb'd box, but looked new as well. Hopefully they changed the power connector. That's just a problem waiting to happen.

It is my understanding that the SD card root method would not affect the B&N OS or partitioning at all. You would have the same issue with the 15GB for B&N content. But you would have the additional space on your SD card to store things.

You can get around the B&N limitations by rooting the Tablet completely and erasing the B&N OS but you would not have the dual boot option and you would potentially void your warranty if you could not restore the OS from backups if you had a problem.
