Why is the USA not involved in Syria?

Artillery and tanks pummeled the Syrian city of Homs for the fifth straight day today and activists told ABC News that at least 50 people were killed.

Today has been the heaviest day of shelling since the most recent assault began on Feb. 3, at least 150 people are believed to have died in the last 48 hours.

Tanks rolled into the city’s Bab Amr neighborhood before dawn and a live stream from Bab Amr shows a constant barrage of heavy shelling and gunfire. As explosions interrupted morning prayers, a rainbow appeared over the city. After several minutes of constant gunfire, the muezzin went quiet momentarily and chants of “Allah Akbar” filled the silence before the voice over the mosque’s loud speaker resumed the call to prayer.

So why help liberate other countries but not this one? I'm pretty sure the people of Syria would welcome the USA rolling in, unlike certain countries....

Russia (and I believe China) have a lot of business and close ties with Syria and will not allow the US to meddle there.

That has nothing to do with it.

Syria is one of the last countries still run in a similar manner the Soviet Union ran. The people want more freedom, the gov will not have it.

Prior to this, Assad had a fantastic relationship with the other regimes, deposed and otherwise regardless of the religious affiliation.

PS Alwaites are not "Ethnically" different from the other Syrians. The lines drawn are religious ones.

Thank you for providing us with first hand knowledge. However, as im sure you are aware, if you don't provide a link to wikipedia, SOME posters on here will not believe anything you say. Even after you provide the link, SOME of them will just deflect and spin the facts around. You just can't have a logical, fact-based debate here on TP sometimes.
