Nice deal - I am updgrade eligible and need to replace my palm pre (don't laugh too hard, it was a decent phone in its day). I am considering the Razr Maxx as I have heard the battery life is much better than the regular Razr. Anyone have any other suggestions? I want a decent size screen and nice fast processor. Thanks!

smass, Razr Maxx, or wait and see if the Samsung Galexy Journal comes to Verizon. The Maxx will be $99-$199 in a month and by then you will know if the Journal is really coming or just a rumor.

Anyone who bought a RAZR when it came out is kicking themselves for not waiting. The battery life on the MAXX is amazing. Unless you *really* can't afford the price difference, there is literally no reason at all to buy the phone in this thread.

As for whether this thread contains a "deal" or not, sure... I guess. But it should have about 20 asterisks and footnotes next to it.

Wow. Great deal. This has me seriously thinking. With 4G off and a custom ROM I could probably get close to the battery life I get on my Droid X with extended battery. I was thinking about the Nexus, then the Maxx, but for $100... this is tough to pass up. Decisions, decisions... do I use my upgrade or not?

Yeah - the price is nice so thats what got me thinking. I have been reading up on the Razr max - from what I have learned the regular razr and the max are basically the same phone with the Maxx having the better battery. I have also read that if you use the motorola "smart actions" program you can get decent battery life. I don't need the phone to hold a charge for longer than a day - I fully charge my phone everynight anyway - so I am not sure if going for the Maxx gives me any real benefit for the extra $100-200...

the razr max not only has a better battery, but due to the size of the 3300 mah battery, it fits in your hand better. it's the same size as my freaking galaxy s2 i777 but has twice the battery capacity.

but those motorola phones are too expensive for me though... i got my galaxy s2 for free.

Well, sure the Razr Maxx is the better choice. But this is attractive because it's $99, and presumably I can walk in to Best Buy and get it for that price. I've been on my Droid X for almost a year and a half and I'd like to try something new. I've been thinking about the GNex but that's $150 more. I dunno. I'd wait for sure if I knew Verizon would get the Galaxy S III - or I'd even consider the Note/Journal, though I'm not sure how comfortable that'd be for an every day phone.

I definitely hear you on the big price difference. However, $100-$200 is a relatively small amount compared to the service cost for the phone over 2 years, not to mention having to live with the phone for 2 years. Keep in mind the RAZRs don't have a removeable battery (not easily at least), so you can't really swap in a spare or extended battery down the road. I'm not trying to persuade you, but on the other side of the coin, it sucks being stuck with a crappy phone (not than any of the choices here are bad really)

I hear you. I am in a little bit different position from most, though, as I moved to a new company about 4 months ago and I am eligible to roll into their Verizon plan at any time and get a new handset with no ETF. So my plan is to get a handset using my current upgrade on my personal plan then roll my other lines out when the contract is up for them in October of this year, then roll into my firm's plan and get another new phone.

Anyway, for those who were already looking to spend about $100 on a new phone, this is certainly more appealing than the Pantechs and other low-end nonsense on Verizon. It is still a premium phone with an excellent set of features.
