Usenet: NewsgroupDirect Friday Only Block Deal: 1.1TB for $50, you pay for 1TB but you actually get an extra 100GB for header space so 1.1TB.

"Friday Only"... does that mean the deal is on Friday only, or that you only can use your block on Fridays?? (yes, that would be weird, but that's what it sounds like.)

You have to estimate how much data you'll use usenet and then determine what kind of deal is the best for you. If you use less than 2 TB a year then the block deal is better.

I'm probably somewhere right under 2TB a year. So I wouldn't save hardly anything by switching to a block. If my ISP didn't have a cap I'd probably use more. I've been using Astraweb unlimited where you can still prepay and get it for $96 a year and rarely have any problems with them. Worth every penny IMO. Of course I'm 100% OTA so I use it a good bit. If I ever switch to U-Verse or DTV it would considerably cut down on my usenet use and I'd probably do away with unlimited and go for a block.

Yup. $50 is very cheap for for a TB.
