Paulownia is a soft, light weight lumber, so don't expect the sustain or tone you'd get from mahogany, maple, ash, or even poplar. But for $80, what do you really expect from an electric guitar??

Might be good with the $50 Rocksmith deal. $130 for a Rocksmith bundle seems ideal. You don't need a good guitar for Rocksmith, just something that can hold a tuning.

just my quick two cents on this....i got this same guitar from a slick deals post last year, I cant remember what I paid....i had one hell of a time selling it on clist....guitar came w/ chips in the headstock as well....i ended up selling it for $85 to a lady for her 5 year old kid....

I bought this guitar a month ago... kind of.

Goods: It's gorgeous. The wood finish is dark and pretty unique compared to the ubiquitous fender squires in this price range. It also usually runs about $115 or so, so this is a good deal on this.

Bads: CHECK YOUR GUITAR IN THE STORE. I did so. Owned this beauty for about 10 seconds. Neck was snapped in shipping (or before... the box didn't seem damaged.) Guys at GC's store hooked it up with an Epiphone Les Paul style for about 10 bucks on top of what I paid for the Dean after one of 'em programmed in his employee discount. Great customer service.

Bottom line: do ship to store and make sure they check the guitar before you take it out with you. It's farking gorgeous and for $80? I'd pick one up if I was employed.

P.S. the tremeolo bar is a POS and kills the tuning from what I've heard on da streets.

This is the one I ended up with. If you apply the same $20 off as the Dean Vendetta, this comes out to $110ish. Probably worth the extra scrath, IMHO.

I have the flat black. It's a little plain for my tastes in retrospect.

I bought this guitar about a year ago and it's really nice for the price. I paid about $100. Of course, for this price, they don't put in the best components, but the pickups are nice and it stays in tune for a long time. Can't complain.
