The SD Apocalypse Challenge

Hello fellow SDers!

This challenge leaves the fate of the world in your hands. Like a true SDer propose the most efficient source of nutrition to keep the world alive.

Some ground rules:

1) For simplicity, raw calorie count and cost will be the only metrics considered, expressed as calories per dollar. We all know the overall health of a person on a 300-day consecutive diet exclusively of sour cream wouldn't be pretty. BUT-this isn't about overall health-THIS IS ABOUT SURVIVAL!
2) The food submitted must be in an edible, life-sustaining form. Fresh cow dung might not qualify, but conceivably cooked, processed dung could. Be prepared to defend your submissions for any abnormal entries.
3) For those of you eager to stock up in advance, DON'T CALL!!

Participants are ENCOURAGED to utilize their SD skills and submit as many entries as they'd like. Local diner having a 2 for 1 special on the chicken fried steak? Go right ahead!

Big Mac - 540 calories / $4.20 (average U.S cost) = 128.57 calories per dollar
Great Value Sour Cream (24 oz) - 1320 calories / $1.59 = 830.19 calories per dollar

Winners will receive special advanced placement in the "I survived the apocalypse only to live in a world infested with zombies" challenge (date TBD), as well as a recommendation from SD to a position within the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Of course there is an 18 ton minimum order, but I'm sure $7,200 to $5,400 is nothing compared to the apocalypse.

This is a oxymoron. If there was an apocalypse, it wouldn't be possible to "keep the world alive". However, if you want to keep a small group of people alive, I would pick foods that have some nutritional value and have a long shelf life. Such as, peanut butter, beans, rice, canned food and salted meat.

Finzz could live off her back up supply of fat for a few years and it's free!! Winner!!!!!

Soylent Green, duh. Food supply gets bigger as # of consumers gets smaller. Win/win.

I like what the LDS folks do. They store up enough food to be completely self reliant for a year.
