There's also an updated model (maybe 2 updates?) that's supposed to have improved the smoothness on the heatpipe contact, but they also cost a bit more.

I was surprised by how easy initial installation was (as long as you have your motherboard out of the case to get the under-mobo bracket screwed in). My only hiccup was doing a test fit since I'd never installed one of these before, and figuring out how I'd apply my Arctic Silver 5 (I went w/ 2 rice-sized lines and let the clamping pressure do the rest, and temps seem good although I'm not overclocking yet).

Ah! nice. I bought mine at Amazon during thanks giving time for $20, but i saw this and thought whoa if this was the price back then, I would've had my rebates back by now!

Yeah the installation was kind of annoying when i first tried it out because I had no idea I had to mount it to the back of the motherboard- It took me a while to figure out how to mount it as well All in all, this heatsink has served me well for the past few months that I've had it. My temps are around 30-34 with an OC'd i5 2500k at 4600mhz.

Installation is moderate to difficult. If you wait to install it after your motherboard is in your case, (depending on your case) it could be a very difficult install.

There are a lot of Youtube videos detailing proper installation. If you've never installed one of these, definitely watch some vids before hand.

Good product, very effective (some reviews say it's just as effective as units costing 4 times more), but Microcenter has recently sold it for just a few dollars more without rebate.

For those that live near a Microcenter, they current have this model for $30 with a $10 rebate. Might be a better option than having to wait from an order online. The shipping from Fry's make this warm, but still great option for those that doesn't have a Fry's or Microcenter near them.

Still waiting for the evo version to drop in price. Hopefully, it does before the summer since the temp (outside and in room) would get a little higher then.

This is a great cooler. I've been using mine in an overclocked 6 core for about a year and a half. Very quiet and keeps the cpu cool. You'll have to take your system apart though because it doesn't use the stock heatsink standoff, but rather its own. Totally worth it though, the stock cooling setup is a joke.

Still have your old receipt? Buy another one and return the new one with the old receipt. Use the old box for your rebate. If not you still get store credit without a receipt.
