Home Efficiency
Hello all!
I want this thread to be about improving home efficiency and reducing costs of home and upkeep.
I want to compile information and possibly make a stickie out of it because we all could save alot of money by doing so.
I just lost my mother due to cancer so it leaves me and my father to take care of my family.
So, I feel like it is my duty to help what I can and make life easier for us and your families as well.
Let's start by the general utility bills
Water:
Electric:
Gas:
Home
Sorry my list is small but with all your help I hope to make it better.

- Reduce Phantom use electronics (Printers, powerstrips, chargers)
- Nail or Hang Powerstrips in easy accessible areas
- Hang your clothing to dry instead. It will last longer and cost you nothing but some time
- Perform an Audit
Gas:

Home
- Garden for your own Organic Foods.
- Make or Buy a rain catcher to cut down water costs
Sorry my list is small but with all your help I hope to make it better.

Another option would be to get a tankless water heater. Be careful when turning down the temperature, though, that you don't set it too low for the dishwasher and washing machine to properly clean your dishes / clothes. A solution here would be to get a dishwasher with an in-line heater, and to wash clothes in cold water, allowing you to set the water heater temperature to whatever is comfortable for showers / washing hands.
