Sure its better than the 1021. But is it 150 bucks better? 50% increase in price there...

This is a big step up with the power supply, heat sinks, build quality and power output. It has pre-outs and a detachable power cord - which I'm sure is probably twice as thick as the one on the 1021. It's almost 30% heavier than anything else in this lineup, and should run just about any type of speaker you can throw at it. It definitely is an entry level Elite. I'm also impressed Panasonic is now listing power output both at 1kHz and 20-20,000Hz bandwidths and .08% THD figures. That hasn't been done in many years with entry level AVR's. Some may claim there's not a lot of difference between 90 and 110 watts per channel. There's a lot more to it than watts. With the beefier chassis and build quality, what you get is a better sound floor with this AVR. The silent passages between notes that make the audio distortion free, the dynamics, and the ability to play at reference levels at lower temperatures. Heat kills electronics. This one won't suffer from heat if you push it like the other models.

True, for 150$, you get lot of gadgets.

Yes, 399$ - is BF price. I just missed that day deal. on that day itself, it was OOS soon.
I have been waiting for good price. on amazon & newegg it went to 429$ on jan middle and missed that too.

anyway, ohhh well, I got to use the amazon's 10$ master card promotional code and found a reason to use it.

Now the question is do I get this or the Denon 2112 which I heard you can get at electronics expo for the same price with bargaining on chat. Biggest advantage of the pioneer is the video processor, while the denon has Audyssey MultEQ XT.

Back to 449 on newegg and i believe newegg is an authorized reseller where amazon is not.

The last few weekends it has dropped to this price on amazon. Living in CA, I purchased it from amazon fully aware that recently they were removed as a authorized dealer for Pioneer. I used the tax savings and got a 3 year squaretrade warranty. It worked out to be about the same as I would have paid on Newegg.

Ditto if this could get back down to $399 I would bite... until then the cost hike over the 1021 versus the features you're adding just don't make sense for me. None the less a good deal but it has been at this price many times before.

I thought the 1121 has the MultEQ equivalent - thats why it says "Advanced" under MCACC Room Calibration... I'm assuming Pioneer is just using some proprietary software.

Audessy is supposed to be much better than the mcacc at least per avsforums. I have a room that can be hard to calibrate so thinking that may be more important. I wish I could bring both home and test them out to see which sounds better. Tried both at abc warehouse and the pioneer did sound better there but not sure if all the settings were correct and wanted to try them with the 190s I just bought.

So it pretty much sounds like Amazon is NOT authorized. Otherwise I'm sure they would just come out and say "Yes we're authorized!" Newegg is definitely authorized as their logo and website link appears on the Pioneer webpage.

that's really disappointing that Amazon isn't an authorized reseller anymore. i have a $120 Amazon gift card that i want to use for a new receiver.
