I wish the discount was bigger. Its still a bit pricey (for me).
I guess if you missed the 2/9 date this might be ok I guess. Nothing to write home about it.

I know what you mean. My bill just went up by $31Mad They wouldn't give me any type of discount, when I called them.
Keep trying. You'll get a CSR that is willing to work with you.

This is the exact kinda BS that keeps me away from them. I've had Dish Network for over 10 years, currently with 2 HD DVRs and no contract and a pretty damn good number of channels (no premiums like HBO, but 10 pretty decent movies channels like EPIX and such) for $50/mo. I can't justify walking from that to spend the next two years haggling over which discount I can get.

It is most likely due to the fact that I wasn't trying to cancel my account. The CSR only offered to switch my programming to a lesser package. Thanks.

If you are happy with Dish then you should stay with them. All pricing is on the Directv website and they aren't hiding any charges. The website clearly states what your prices are for all 24 months of your contract. I understand some people don't like their bill increasing after the 1st year of promotional discounts but the website clearly states that the price will infact increase.

Please don't misunderstand, not trying to TC at all. I would really like the whole home DVR solution, but I keep hearing about people getting their rates raised without warning with little or no recourse. Not sure how that can be done under contract but I am no attorney... Unless maybe I am misunderstanding and the rate hikes are taking place after the 2 year period?

The rate hikes usually come in February. You are locked in, under new service, for your first 12 months so if you would sign up now you would probably see your price increase in March of 2013. Then they will usually raise the programming fees about $4 a month. The contract states that they can do this, you aren't locked into any prices after your first 12 months per the contract.

how on earth does directv not have locals in HD. I live in east lansing MI, had dtv for 2 years "waiting" for local channels in HD.

free from dtv for almost a year now, saved me ~$720

Most areas have locals in HD. Your link doesn't seem to work though.

DIRECTV currently offers local broadcast channels in 195 markets, representing more than 99.4% of U.S. TV households, with 179 markets in HD. Chances are, DIRECTV already offers HD locals in your area

That is the HD and Whole Home DVR monthly fee together. You get $10 off of that with auto-pay for free HD service. That $20 amount hasn't changed in a couple of years.

Yes, looks accurate. Taxes vary by state
Wasn't the whole home DVR $3 with their last offer, and HD came for free?

Thats what I got...

I guess this is a good deal for families. I'm single and already have a tivo so I am doing fine with the Comcast promos. Plus it includes internet and still costs just about the same as what the OP posted. Not TD but just think it would make more sense financially for families than for one or two people.

Yes that was/is the pricing. You are also paying $7 or $8 for the DVR service.

It was $7 for DVR, $3 for Whole Home DVR, and $10 for HD......$20 total. They raised the DVR fee to $8 but if you have all 3 you pay $20 and with autopay you get $10 off for HD.
