Dell XPS 8300 (Core i5 - 3.0 Ghz) with 1.5 TB HD and 8GB Memory for $569 (AC) - Staples

Hey Guys,

Total newbie to posting deals, so please forgive my mistakes. I was looking for a desktop for a while, but wasn't able to get the right price. Today, I saw Staples having the Dell XPS 8300 (Core i5) with 1.5TB HD and 8GB ram for $599. Normally this machine is in the $700 range (everywhere I look - Dell Outlets, BestBuy etc).

I combined the $599 deal with $30 off $150 Staples coupon and got it down to $569 (before taxes).

Total after taxes was $604 which is by far the best deal I found for a computer of this specs.

There was another good deal there for those just looking for a cheaper desktop.

Dell Inspiron Core i3 with 1TB HD and 8GB of Ram for $449 and if you use the $30 off $150 coupon, then it will be $419.

I'm not sure this would be what he's looking for. The video card is a little on the low end, plus the power supply is 460W, which is probably not much higher than these current specs take up. So if you were to upgrade to a higher-end video card, you'd be looking at around $200-300 for the card, and you'd likely have to buy a new power supply. This computer is more suited for business, in an office environment it would do well. If you want a "gaming pc" imo, you should build one from parts on newegg and amazon. It's a lot bigger bang for your buck.

Specs show a Radeon HD 6450 in this system, a far cry from the ati 5770hd.

I belive the description for the HD 5770 is a general max-out option available for the XPS 8300. This model comes with the lowlly HD 6450, which is no good for gaming. However, the 460 PSU should be able to handle a somewhat beefier card if you want to upgrade yourself. I assume this means it comes with a single pci-e power connector. This is something to be aware of if you are buying this for a gaming machine.

Edit: Looks like I got beat to the punch on this one.

OP you might want to put that in the title or description just to avoid any confusion.

As for its gaming capabilities, its fine if youre not expecting it to max out current games. I play TF2, L4D2, on highest settings and also played Skyrim on high so its not that bad.
