Great price, that said, I no longer will risk my data on an OCZ/Sandforce drive. If you do daily backups, this is a great price for a fast drive. If you don't have any important data on your machine, go for it! Failure rates for these and the Vertex + drives are just too high. Personal experience and reviews.

Sandforce drives are no longer unstable. The last firmware fixed the majority of bsod issues people have. Also, Intel has just released a Sandforce based SSD ie Intel 520 SSD series (use the exact same Sandforce controller as in the Vertex 3 and other sandforce 3 SSD on the market). Intel has a unique firmware that passed a year long validation process for Sandforce 3 controller and they are backed up with a 5 years warranty.

Technology moved pretty fast, just because something was broken couple months back doesn't mean there is no fix for it. Crucial M4 also has BSOD issue too and they released a firmware fixed for it. Samsung 830 series SSD also has BSOD issue and is also fixed by a recent firmware release.

This is more front page worthy than the old Vertex Plus from Tiger Direct.

Yeah, I'm extremely tempted on this. The only problem I have is that we will be seeing high speed drives like this one, 500MBPS read/ write, for as low as $.50 a gig by the end of the year. Prices on SSD's have halved the past year and gotten signifiacantly faster. They are only gonna get cheaper. This is really tempting, though. at ~$.77 a gig.

I can wait, only because I have no real use for a high speed drive right now. What I really need is a $75 3TB drive so I can back up my RAID 5 array and switch to RAID 10, but those floods kinda screwed me over. I'll probably pick both up next Black Friday.
