Rodney King had a broken facial bone and a broken ankle, likely from when he fell after one of the times he was hit with an earlier, less effective version of the Taser. After he tossed multiple officers off that were trying to subdue him. The baton strikes he got were all soft tissue hits, designed to cause pain, but not break bones, and dissuade him from trying to get up. 20 years before that, Rodney would have been hit in the head, once or twice until he was unconscious, and any video wouldn't have looked as unpalatable. King might have had brain damage or died, but the cops actions would probably have been seen as reasonable, given King's violent and psychotic behavior. The lesson after the trials of the officers was clear. Don't go hands on, don't use your baton, Tase early and often. If that doesn't work, shoot them. “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”

The cities and police can brush that off just by paying people off with their OTHER ( taxpayer ) monies... Sounds fair huh? And people wonder why the state and police are NEVER held accountable.. Wonder who's more immune to crimes and are the real criminals...

I think the cops have always had the upper hand. The corruption that was rife for most of the 20 century in big city PD's has mostly been eradicated but the contempt for the cops grew out of it's exposure. Now we also get flooded with images of every misdeed which fuels the disrespect. Unfairly, oftentimes. I do believe that the vast majority are good. When the facts change, I change my mind.

Read: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011...ce_to.html When you have you brothers in blue coming out to support disgraced cops... You need to ask yourself which side they are on |

It's not nonsense. You have no idea what the scale of corruption was back then. It's nothing compared to today. |

We pay police officers to deal with those who wish to be violent. Sometimes, like sausage making, that isn't a pretty sight. Feel free to sign up and offer your services in dealing with violent individuals, I'll bet you'd be just spiffy at it..... ![]() |

And if you have a particular way of knowing exactly when a warrant is going to be a high risk one, you should share it with law enforcement. Then, so many wouldn't be killed serving warrants in less severe ways. |
