it should be noted that the same pair of discounts applies to the frontline tick and flea meds which are already competitively priced...and a quick check on amz-my former source- reveals they are now selling them from a third party...so i was able to pick up 2 six packs of FL and a 15lb TOTW for @ 135....

Maybe this is a good deal for people that buy online only but doing the math it actually costs me more than going to my local store.
My pup eats Innova Large Breed which they sell for 58 a bag minus all discounts for 2 bags would cost around $45 a bag. If I go to my local store(Concord Pet) and take a coupon they always send out for 30 off 100 at $55 per bag. I come out with a total price of $40 per bag. If you have a concord pet in your area look into that first as it is a better deal and the coupons are always readily available. |

i got warned because everyone else went off topic.

it's okay for people use a mix of hi-protein quality dry kibble like Instinct, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, Fromm, etc because it's convenient & quick, especially if you're gone all day for work ... sort of like whey protien or protein bars, quick & convenient & healthy when you don't have time to cook or prepare meals (just don't eat only protein bars for months, LOL) ...because kibble is dehydrated, it won't spoil if you leave it out all day/night whereas wet/raw meat will spoil if you leave it out all day/night. The Dog Whisperer feeds his dogs a mix of dry kibble & meat (great dog training TV show, available for free online too) Variety is good so that you get a wide variety of nutrients which is why I also like to switch from bison, chicken, bison varieties of kibble since the same food all month gets boring for your dogs just like you would get bored if you ate only pizza or eggs all month P.S. Great quick way to socialize your dogs is to give chicken, beef, jerky to strangers to feed your dogs so that way they associate strangers as positive experiences ..and to train them to go potty outside or on the wee-wee pads, give them the same asap when they go potty outside --they soon learn that they get nice beef/chicken jerky when they hold it in & go outside only Last edited by rippedbuff; 02-28-2012 at 12:41 AM.. |

As far as a raw meat, ask any vet. And
Just a little info. I work with dogs a lot. Feral dogs are trash and carrion eaters, they do not hunt in organized packs like wolves. Wild dogs rarely eat fresh meat.Good brands of dog food are sufficient. Last edited by hc3; 02-28-2012 at 02:58 AM.. |

I buy the bags of drumsticks at Cosco because they are packed perfectly. I also get organ meat and pork for them. Our 55 pound dog gets about a pound of meat per day and our 70 pound dog gets about 1.25-1.5 per day. You can tell how they look if they're getting enough to eat. You hear all sorts of good and bad about raw so it's something you just have to try for yourself to see how your dogs look and feel. My dogs are totally healthy and have never had any health issues. They also do not have bad breath and their stools are not huge or runny. I probably would never have even thought about raw if the breeder hadn't taught me about it or asked me to sign an agreement stating I'd try it. I tried it and I also tried to switch them to kibble and they went for three days and ate none of it so I went back to raw. I felt terrible going for a few days but everyone told me they would eat when they got hungry and to wait it out. Well, they would not touch the kibble. They love chicken and go crazy over boneless pork and organ meat. They like certain veggies, too. If you are truly interested in it, you can probably find raw groups in your area where you can get the meat super cheap. Grocery stores donate meat to raw groups for animals so if you get into a co-op you can get a lot of it for free. I don't bother with that but I know a lot of people do. |

Nice, Thanks!....Came down to $35.00 a bag for Taste of the Wild. I mixed it up on the subscribe and save to get two different flavors. We have been feeding her, our golden retriever, Natural Balance (I think it's a great food). We always purchased that locally. Taste of the Wild is something we were feeding our pet when she was younger, but it became unavailable locally. I only switched back due to the price per lb, and our dog has had a good experience with both foods.

well ive given my dogs chicken bone wings (raw) about once a month and they love it! i always watch them as they eat and their poops are always solid when feeding them TOTW. ive wanted to buy a few slabs of steak or even spare hip knuckles from the grocery store, but they never have any. also we give our dogs carrots every so often as a good chew toy.

Thanks OP and all who have contributed to this thread. I normally feed my Pit Flint River Ranch, but the prices keep going up. It's now $40 for a 20lb bag shipped. So, I'm going to try "Taste of the Wild" (2) 30lb bags comes out to $71, giving me more food with a savings of approx $50! Great Deal!!
