This is somewhat true. I have a full set of first link (though all my lids are blue) and love them, for the most part. We did have one medium bowl crack and "explode" in the microwave.

They claim to be dishwasher and microwave safe (and maybe oven safe?), so I suspect it was just a crappy bowl (which I then returned, dirty and shattered, for a full refund).

The only problem with this theory is that people often operate under the assumption that they "don't make it the way they used to"... but unless you're a (very) senior citizen, or a foreigner, you have never purchased Pyrex that isn't made of soda lime glass. In the USA, at least, they've used this type of glass since WWII for consumer applications.

The reason that we hear more and more about all this homicidal, look-at-it-wrong-and-it-will-kill-your-children Pyrex nowadays, even though it's the same type of glass they've used for generations? The internet.

yes, but the 8 piece no drip would be close to 20 dollars with tax and you have to drive to store to pick up. And the amazon 10 piece was 11 dollars with no tax and FREE shipping and got over 400 reviews and highly rated on amazon.
I personally would rather wait a few weeks for another amazon deal, since it's a one time purchase and get free shipping . But go for it if you don't mind driving to sears and paying 20 dollars for the 8 piece set.

Was going to be in for three of the 14-pc sets, but they sold out at my local store while I was checking out. Ugh!
