Most everyone thinks so because of reliability.

It's the whole sandforce debate... I think it comes down to maybe not having the top of the line performance, but still having excellent performance, and not having to deal with all of the reliability issues that seem to come along with the sandforce controllers. Bottom line, if you get an M4, you won't regret it. The m4 by all accounts has been the most popular SSD choice for quite some time now. That's all you can ask for, right?

Um yes, the agility uses asynch nand, which is the bottom of the barrel for sata III ssds.

The Agility 3 isn't even top of the line to wipe away the m4. The m4 wins some and the Agility 3 wins some in terms of benchmarks before the speed firmware. After that the m4 should outpace the Agility 3 a little more.

Is this the same as the drive without the kit? The speeds are different. Curious as i would be buying one to raid 0 with my current non-kit 256 drive.

I wish i didnt miss that damn spiceworks 50 for 100 deal. Would have put this drive at 250.

lol. It would be for me, yes. Crucial's reputation for reliability far exceeds OCZ's. Considering reliability, stability, speed, and compatibility, Crucial FTW.

In practical use, I don't know when you would notice any difference. If your system does not have SATA III (6G/s), there is no difference in daily use -these fast SSDs would be limited by the interface speed. I seriously doubt I'd notice a difference with SATA III.

Whatever SSD you choose, make sure you update to the latest firmware revision at the earliest opportunity.

If you'd like a lot of opinions on the matter of the Crucial M4 vs. OCZ Vertex 3, the ~341,000 search results Link [google.com] should keep you busy for a while.

Newegg's just not good about keeping specs updated, but surely absolutely it's the same drive. This piece/part had traditionally always been more expensive than the drive itself, newegg is just running a good deal on this particular setup for some reason.

Of course all these price drops on the M4 mean new model soon... and so goes the hamster wheel.
