Motorola DVRS can be modded to hold a 1 TB drive now. It was pretty easy to do. I paid $7/month for my box. This is still a very good deal!

Sure what the heck. In for 1. Thats a good deal compared to its price. And these seem to hold there value if I don't like it.
Got 200$ for my birthday wasn't going to do anything but this changes my mind . Now I have another way to fill up my 15tb array.Anxious to see what the network streaming for other media pcs is like. |

Or like I mentioned in the other post you use WMC extenders. The home PC gets all four tuners and the extender uses one out of that pool. Using extenders helps keep a central location for your recordings as well. With the tuner sharing option the shows recorded on other PCs that have copy protection will only be viewable on the PC that recorded it. With extenders any recording can be viewed on any TV. |

Hmmm, is this really worth it? I have comcast HD with DVR box. I don't know how much it is a month but if you were to buy this cable card tuner at $200 does that mean that you need to pay for an HD box (not a DVR box). How much is that a month? How long does it take until you break even? Heck, you mind as well add a hard drive to your $200 cost too because you are going to need some extra space on your computer. So perhaps something like $260+ for this sort of setup? Is this a "slickdeal" or a "tech dream".
Also, how much will this tax your CPU and your computer system? Wouldn't seem worth it if you practically need a separate computer system just to handle this. I like to game on my computer, do video editing, etc. Last edited by Genius4sho; 02-18-2012 at 03:37 PM.. Remember to share the love! Give Reps to both the OP and the deal.![]() |

I have this card and it is awesome! I bought it when it was $400, and i was in my gotta have it mood!
Current setup: Gigabit wired house (FYI) i3 2100/H67/8GB Ram/ 60GB SSD/ 2TB HDD/ Silverstone Case & Silverstone PSU and it barely taxes the CPU maybe atmost 4-5% and all the while streaming to an xbox 360. Its dropped a connection one time and I had to re-link the xbox to the pc, but besides that its been rock solid! |

QUESTION:
so the coax cable runs to this and how are the extenders handled? wireless or ethernet or do the transmit over the same cable like my POS Dish Netw@rk box XBOX360 is about $300 each 3-4 extenders and this may not be that worth it "Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my uncle Jack off a horse.." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse..""

Cheapest new Xbox 360 is $199. You can pick up older used ones for cheap. You do not need a working DVD drive in the Xbox. Also, Ceton is coming out with its own Media Center Extender soon--price and release date not yet known |
