Yup that is correct. Though there may be a way to force a recording to occur though in WMC but I haven't done this before.

How does this output to the other tvs? Network cable from router/modem? And does it have to be thru an extender, 360, roku, wdlive etc..?

I did buy this when it went on sale for $220 on Newegg. It works great. However, there are some things that people need to know about Windows Media Center and how it compares to your typical DVR from your cable provider:

For one, MCE only buffers live TV on the current channel you're watching. It doesn't continue to buffer the last channel you were watching like multi-tuner Motorola DVR's do (and maybe TiVos) unless you are recording the last channel.

Secondly, when you hit the record button on a channel you're currently watching, it doesn't dump what has already been buffered into the recording. So if you were watching the channel for 5 minutes and find that it's worth recording, it won't dump the last 5 minutes into the recording; it only records everything going forward form the time you hit the record button.

Aside from those lack of features, I do like being able to record 4 channels and having 1TB of storage space compared to my last DVR which only had 160GB.

Will this work with Verizon FIOS?

No, you'll need this running on one PC and three other WMC extenders (Xbox 360s). Then you'll get it on four TVs.

Hmmm, is this really worth it? I have comcast HD with DVR box. I don't know how much it is a month but if you were to buy this cable card tuner at $200 does that mean that you need to pay for an HD box (not a DVR box).
