daaaamn, just got the ST version for $1500

I know 'VT' is the best now, but how to compare to 'ST' version?

I picked up the VT30 and I can tell you the infinite black panel that the VT30 has really shines. It is hands down the best picture I have ever seen and am glad I didn't swap it for the GT. I got it from Best Buy a few weeks ago when it was 2799. I saw this ad and went to look at the GT at Fry's but as you can see in my above post, what a joke. I am going to pass my 30 day return window next week, but I am staying with the VT. After viewing for a couple of weeks, it is so stunning it was worth the 1k price above the GT. Also the single glass looks really, and I mean really good over the GT even when the TV is off. The bezel on the ST is just butt ugly and about 5 years outdated IMO.

To make this into a real SLICK deal - call Amazon large items at 866-423-5355 and have them pricematch Fry's. I just got off the phone with them and they matched the 1699.99 and charged me $50 for shipping (Frys is 139.99 for shipping) Fry's shows out of stock online, but this actually helps you since Amazon will sell it for the 1699.99 plus their $50 shipping fee as it still shows available in B&M stores. Normally Amazon will only match Fry's shipped price (1839.98). Amazon was 1749.99 shipped!!!! Smoking hot deal on a great TV. Heck just a couple weeks ago people were punching each other out to get the 65st30 for 1700 shipped. Thanks for the heads up OP, and I hope the above information helps some of you interested in getting in on this deal through Amazon!

Have to tell you ... The GT and VT models BOTH have the Infinite Black bezel and the Single pane of glass screen... Perhaps you were getting the different models mixed up ... ST, GT, VT ... (and there are models lower than those too)

False. Only the VT has single sheet of glass, the GT has a normal bezel with the screen recessed (albeit a much nicer designed bezel than the ST).

The GT and ST have the Infinite black 2 panel and the VT has the Infinite black pro 2 panel.

NOT to get into a pissing match here but ... I was right.

BOTH have the single pane of glass. GT & VT. (CALL Pana about it to prove me wrong)

AND, the Inf Blk 2 vs Inf Blk Pro 2 ... are the SAME thing! (different name for the new/upper series is all) Look at the descriptions and image display describing them ... exactly the same!

End result... If possible I'd still like to get the VT because of a 'few' perks, but I would be perfectly fine with the GT if I could find the sale/bargain price on it.

I've been hoping for the same thing but ... over many months now, the 50"GT has stayed around $1K. Best pricing was on Amaz about a month ago for $950 (or something like that). And it was $999 in the Fry's BM store recently.

But that's it! for many months it has stayed there or gone up a bit even. They may be selling out because Fry's and even Panasonic's own website is all OOS now. Hmmm...
