Have you applied at starbucks? I think a lot of them are hiring again. I really liked working there and the insurance was nice.

I know, it's hard for a person such as yourself to deliberately do a bad (or substandard) job, but sometimes you just have to fight back. That's a legitimate way to do it, if you are unconcerned about a reference to the next job. After all, how can they hurt you even if you do get canned, since you can quit at any time and get the other job? |

I am on both sides on this one. On the one hand, this is an entry level shit job that is supposed to suck. I say bust ass and make as much money as possible and use the shitty situation to move up as fast as possible.
On the other hand, if it is effecting your health and sanity, money isnt everything. All that being said, I would probably lean toward what others have said and keep looking. Is this a school job? What are your future plans? Do you like cleaning? Would a house cleaner job fit your life better? Kyle: Dude! I almost thought those Afghani kids talked you into not liking America.
Stan: No, dude. America may have some problems, but it's our home. Our team. And if you don't wanna root for your team, then you should get the hell out of the stadium. Kyle: Yeah. Stan: <salutes the American flag> Go America. Kyle: <salutes> Go America... Stan: Go Broncos Kyle: Yeah go Broncos. Cartman: Yeah... |

It's not 'cleaning' it's 'conditioning'. At any rate, I do care about references and care about my appearance as an employee, so I want to have a good reference if I need it in the future.
The department manager did state that if I wanted to come back if the other job didn't work out, they wouldn't have a problem rehiring me, which is a possibility I wouldn't mind keeping open. Not that I'd go back if I quit unless I couldn't find anything else at all...

I've mentioned it to the department head. He's aware of the situation with the other employee, but really can't do anything about it. I have not said either way what I'm going to do, nor have I given a two weeks notice. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do.
I've mentioned it in passing and he's aware of the scenario, so wouldn't hold it against me. He's also aware of my health issues, to some extent. Last edited by mystery250; 02-19-2012 at 04:52 PM.. |
