Good price on some classic games, I still keep AoW1 on my laptop for multiplayer with a friend.
As for AoW2, there's no reason to purchase The Wizard's Throne, as Shadow Magic is a standalone expansion that pretty much includes everything in The Wizard's Throne. BTW both of these games still have active player groups on Steam. |

Age of Wonders 2: Shadow Magic has a very strong community at http://aow2.heavengames.com/
The community is still modding and releasing bug fixes for it. Om Nom Nom

And yes, this is why I think Good Old Games is awesome because you'll ALWAYS have the game as long as you keep the installation exe file, which means BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. Not to mention, as someone who literally grew up (hell yea 90s kids!) in the golden age of gaming, it's great they are updating these to be able to run on newer OSes (even though there's a good amount that even with GoG's updates still won't run on Windows 7 or they have problems running in Windows 7) so that kids who grew up a generation after us 90s kids have a chance to play some of the best games of all time who don't have a native Windows 95, native Windows 98, and native Windows XP machine (yes, I have a dedicated Win98 machine [with a Voodoo 5 5500 ] solely for the purpose of playing games from the 90s in their native environment. Haters are definitely going to hate, hah.)And even more important, it gives said newer generation a chance to play games that just aren't made anymore (they don't make games like they used to). Here's a list of games that are the best of what GoG has to offer, some of which are very underrated gems that even when they were released were barely known: *Age of Wonders series (of course, lol) *Baldur's Gate series *Beyond Good and Evil *Caesar 3 *Chessmaster 9000 (yes I'm serious. You won't find a better chess game than this.) *Commandos series *Descent series *Deus Ex GOTY (oh god so GOOD )*Dungeon Keeper series (although 2 is a much better & polished game and I would say it would be ok to skip the 1st one in favor of Dungeon Keeper 2 if you were forced to choose) *Earth 21XX series (IMO, Earth 2150 is the best. Earth 2160 was a big letdown) *Empire Earth series (Empire Earth: Gold Edition is by far the best, Empire Earth 2: Gold Edition was still pretty good, and Empire Earth 3 stay away from) *Fahrenheit aka Indigo Prophecy *Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics (oh god so good. Even though there is a bunch of "criticism" by "hardcore Fallout fans", I think Tactics is a fantastic game. Just because it was an RTS game and not the Fallout 3 everyone was waiting for, doesn't mean it's bad. If you go into it knowing it's a RTS game based in the Fallout world, you will be very pleased with the game) *Farcry (I just started playing this again, and it's mind-blowing how good it still looks considering it was released in March of 2004. It was basically the earlier version of Crysis in terms of graphics. And there are lots of fan-made upgrades that can make it look like a AAA game that was released last year) *Giants: Citizen Kabuto (underrated game that few people know of. Also, one of the most original games I've ever played.) *Gothic series (Gothic and Gothic 2 Gold Edition - oh god so good. Gothic 3 is still good, but it's an unpolished gem, and oh god the MUSICAL SCORE! Avoid at all costs Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods.) *Icewind Dale series (oh god SO GOOD) *Interstate '76 Arsenal (as one review puts it so excellently "It remains today the most definitive example of car combat in video games - often copied but never yet equalled." I completely agree. And oh god the MUSICAL SCORE. Dat funk.) *Master of Orion series (oh god SO GOOD Seriously, 1 & 2 are one of the best 4X games every made. RUN, don't walk, away from Master of Orion 3. It's a stain on the Master of Orion name)*Myst: Masterpiece Edition *Neverwinter Nights Diamond edition (oh god SO GOOD) *Nox (a game that was overshadowed by Diablo 2, likely because it's very much so a Diablo 2 clone. However, it's just as good, and it's definitely better than Torchlight or Magicka. *Oddworld series *Painkiller Black edition *Planescape: Torment (literally one of the best games of all time, with one of the best storylines of all time. In a word: EPIC. )*Populous series *Psychonauts *Rayman series *Riven: The Sequel to Myst *Rollercoaster Tycoon series *Sacrifice (oh god SO GOOD . This is probably the most underrated gem of all time. Seriously, this was Shiny Entertainment's swan song and it was not advertised at all. Even back in 2000 when it was released, multiplayer was almost non-existent, with the most amount of people being online I ever saw being 150-200 people. Such a shame. I mean the story, the gameplay, the music, the atmosphere, the balance, is just so perfect. I did say earlier that Planescape is the greatest game of all time, however, this game ties it or is a CLOSE second. Oh, and also Tim Curry )*Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (oh good SO GOOD . This is the other greatest 4X game ever made.)*Stronghold series (Lord of the Rings mod, nuff said.) *Syndicate *Thief Gold and Thief 2: The Metal Age *Total Annihilation: Commander Pack (oh god SO GOOD . One of the best RTS games of all time.)*The Witcher series *XIII aka Thirteen (another underrated game. Adam West does voicework in the game!) Most of these are thanks to developers that were in a class of their own: Triumph Studios, Bioware, Pyro Studios, Ion Storm Inc, Black Isle Studios, Piranha Bytes, and Firaxis Games. But the 2 nearest and dearest to my heart are Shiny Entertainment (because Sacrifice) and Bullfrog Studios. I miss you guys. Whew, sorry for the wall of text but it felt good to get that all down. And before anyone says it, I do not work for GoG. I'm just a guy who was lucky enough to be born in 1986 and had a dad who was very much into electronics and computers, so I was blessed with the opportunity to play masterpiece after masterpiece. Hope someone else discovers their inner gamer or finds a hidden gem or 2 in this list.
