Amazon has this Asset 1930 for about $20 smooth or serrated for anyone looking to compare. http://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-Asset-Serrated-Folding-Knife/dp/B004SGTM3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329730102&sr=8-1

Here's an interesting thread on Chinese made Kershaw. The Kershaw rep comes off as a cocky clown. And after reading this, my opinion of Kershaw has been lowered.
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums...in-China!! The point I've been trying to make in these knife threads is simple. Companies like Kershaw and SOG who have made their businesses what they are by touting 'made in America' are now selling mostly knives made overseas. Yet the prices haven't gone down at all. So we're getting Chinese quality at made in USA prices. And that's just shady and deceptive. Not to mention most people who aren't 'knife people' tend to assume good old American knife companies like Gerber, Leatherman, Kershaw, Buck, etc are all still made in America. And they aren't. If you like 18 dollar Chinese knives, more power to you. I'll keep buying the knives I like, you keep buying the knives you like. |

5 Kershaw Speedsafe Knives $12.99 each (+$5 shipping) Today's woot deal has the Kershaw Asset, Drone, Tremor, Compound, and Burst (Serrated). Just ordered the Compound and the Tremor for $30 shipped. These knives come in 8Cr13MoV steel and are made in China. Not super high end, but great for the price. The steel is definitely serviceable. Easy to sharpen and stays pretty sharp for a while. By no means is it CTS-XHP or CPM-M4, but at $12.99 they can't be beat. They usually go for $25-30 on sale. $5 shipping fee is a flat rate, and they don't charge more if you buy more than one knife. Blade lengths run between 2.75 and 3.75 inches. As said before they all come in 8Cr13MoV steel. Handles are made from G-10, usually found in more expensive knives. The all come with a lifetime warranty from KAI. (Kershaws parent company; they also own the higher end ZT and Shun knife brands) edit: for anyone curious, these are assisted-opening knives and are not considered automatics/switch blades since the user must move the actual blade for before the speedsafe mechanism engages. Barring any local ordinances these should be legal to carry as long as their blade length is legal in your area. It's kind of a pain, but the mechanism can be disabled. For what it's worth, Kershaw is a Japanese company. I almost pulled the trigger on these, but decided to save my money. For 10 bucks more you can get a better knife, with better steel. For 30 bucks more you can pickup a Kershaw Blur and have a knife you can give to your grandkids.

Ill keep my $20 storm 2 which is incidentally made in the USA. Not that that really matters to me, but it is my favorite knife I've used <$50.
