Samsung LCD/Plasma/DLP TV's Capacitor Class Action Settlement Lawsuit

My TV is from 2010, but am having problems with it. I wonder if it was just a hold over at Best Buy.

Can't check my model number since I'm not at home. What kind of compensation will people get?

Guys to think that you'll get away from faulty electronics by just switching away from samsung to toshiba, or panasonic will get you away from the ever problematic capacitor problem is, at least in my opinion, somewhat ignorant.
All producers are trying to pickup their materials at the lowest costs, these things are bound to happen. Furthermore design flaws with the electronics and physical structure can trap heat and shorten the life of components such as capacitors. I'm by no means saying this is acceptable, when you pay good money you expect a quality product. My point is, this time it was Samsung, next time it could be Sony, or Panasonic. I'm not playing Samsung fanboy either, just trying to shed some light and say, it can happen to ANY product line from any producer. Just like any given car can have a major recall at any given point in time.

Samsung is not a low cost brand when it comes to HDTVs. Do a little research.

I also had an issue with my Sammy LCD. TV would not turn on. Googled the solution. Replaced the bad capacitors and all is working great ever since.

Would love to get something out of them for my trouble, but certainly not willing to sell them back my perfectly good TV for $300, just so they can sell as a refurb for $500.

Just the same... Glad to hear they are finally owning up to the problem since most people wouldn't feel comfortable doing the repair themselves.
