Good price, just paid $94 from tigerdirect, defiantly cheapest I have seen, Slickdeal

Man, I wish I had a need for these.

These speakers are not given enough credit, they sound great, now Audiophiles here will try and tell you there not $10000 speakers so there crap, but these really do sound good and movies sound awesome on these, I would definitely buy these again.

at what price are they usually on for?

I don't know anything about these speakers, but I see a pair of Sony SS-F6000 [amazon.com] is only $120 (since December 2011...and off and on since 2009). Not sure how much of a deal any of this is.

how would i hook these up? can they sound good just by themselves? tempting for the price..

$2 savings from 94 to 92 doesn't seem like a slickdeal. Price history shows these speakers were $92 from Nov 23rd to Dec 22nd and from Feb 2nd to Feb 11th they were also $92. I'm not trying to say these speakers are not worth $92. I'm just trying to say this price seems like a normal price for these speakers.

Personally, I'd pay the small difference and step up to the SSF6000's to get dual 6.5 drivers. I've had the 6000's for many years for music only listening and they have to be the best value floor speakers known to man. I have pounded the drivers in those speakers at near max volume for years (high volume rock and metal listening) and they just keep on taking whatever I throw at them. Sound quality is very good, IMO,...bass thumps, midrange is clear and plenty of treble. I do plan on grabbing the 7000's at some point as they are also a tremendous value for dual 8 floor standers at less than $180! Actually, one day I'd like to get some Vegas, but honestly my Sony's pound so well and clear at high volume, I just can't shell out $800-$1000 for the Vegas yet...but someday! If you want big sound, you need big speakers....there just isn't any other option! lol And I love BIG sound! I guess I'm from the old school that bigger is better.

Grab the 6000's and you will not be disappointed! Best value/budget speakers on the planet.

I bought a pair of these last year. Couldn't be happier. Works great if you're looking to set up a home theater on a budget.

I think you could probably only fit one on your TV before you touched your ceiling...of course that all depends on the ceiling height in your home. Also, if it is a slim HDTV the speakers may not balance well on your TV and may fall off.

Sure, but you'll need a receiver (stereo or multi channel) to hook them up to. I've used an old Kenwood receiver and been very happy.
