I am not sure on that one... i know Chase (and previously Washington Mutual that they bought out) did a lot of similar deals to this in the past. I got in on one of the WaMu deals, all went OK.

Not sure on the "college Checking" part, but u have to keep the account open for 6 months it says in the conditions:

Anyone knows if ACH push from other banks (e.g., ING) is counted as direct deposit? Thanks.

Chase (ETrade, Ally, BofA ACH push) - seems to only allow ACH push and only from some banks, YMMV
Chase (no paypal, no ING, no Amazon Payments)

so, I'd say no... right now I'm asking other forums if square counts as a direct deposit.

Would have signed up for this if I didn't take my money out of the banks and put them into a credit union.

I searched history, and found this deal was offered also back in October. Some posters on there stated an ING Direct ACH transfer registered as direct deposits.. see this thread for more: http://slickdeals.net/f/3460912-Chase-Checking-Account-150-Cash-Bonus?v=1&page=2

I'm getting 4% interest from a credit union. They're an excellent place to move your money to, especially after the major banks did their bizniss and we bailed them out.

I agree.. my main bank account is thru a credit union too, but no 4% interest here! Frown. but free $150 is still $150.

I am not switching to them for my main account. but will cash in on some free money. lol

I got a post card for this offer but it was for $200 instead of $150. I opened the account online on 2/13 with $25 transferred from a different chase account, then walked to a branch later that day and deposited $125 cash. I just received the $200 in my account this morning. Also, I believe it says that if you keep $5000 in a savings account (which I do) with Chase or $1500 in this account (which I plan on doing for at least the first 6 months), there are no fees.

That is correct...

$1500 daily balance OR $500+/mo combined direct deposit OR $5000+ in all qualifying chase accounts to avoid any sort of fees it says.
