I'm going to be bold and say that ibanez has the best playing guitars for the price. I think there are few that would have anything bad to say about their playability. PS: Rob Chappers did a budget guitar shoot out on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4GPZy9R-7M) and liked the playability and pickups on this model or one very similar. So if you like the shred this is the guitar for you.

Thanks man! This was very helpful advice. In general I LOVE Seymour Duncan pickups but MY favorite guitar tones actually do come from actives! LOVE Dave Mustaines tone!

Jackson (Mustaine's main axe for most of his career) had (not that similar these days) a lot in common with ibanez. The neck profiles and body wood were nearly identical in the late 80s through mid 90s. If you are into Megadeth, then the ibanez is the guitar for you.

All of the guitars you mentioned are good, but I'd have ranked the epiphone the lowest. A lot of their price has to do with the association with gibson. If you were going for the Zakk Wylde sound I'd have recommended a maple topped les paul guitar, which the epi gothic is not. You can throw the $100 you are saving into an amp or a tubscreamer/mxr pedal.

I also have no idea how the duncan pickups in the washburn sound, but I'm guessing they sound more like a duncan designed pickup than a seymour duncan pickup. Since they are relabeled duncan designed pickups. You might have been disappointed with them.

You could always put the $100 saved by buying the ibz towards a set of seymour duncans and use the switch in the IBZ as a coil splitter....

Thanks man! I think I am going to be VERY happy with this one. I might not even have to change the pick ups seeing as it is my set of actives and gets pretty good reviews. Dave uses SD Blackout custom actives too. So regular SD's sound good but not the same.

I tired typing in Ibanez RG and they didn't come up the first time. OH well, I would have had to pay tax and lost out on 4% cash back so its all good.

I own two Ibanez guitars. Great value great sound.

This is for those who like heavy guitar sound. Good for hard rock, metal, thrash, heavy punk.
