Omeprazole (Prilosec) 42-ct $14.99 @ Target

- Tobacco products

- Dairy products
- Lottery tickets

You should really post this deal in its own thread, I rarely see omeprazole cheaper than prescriptions, I will be stocking up!

If you are w/ Kaiser, they sell this at $5 for 28 ct. Good deal for non-Kaiser.

If Prilosec doesn't work for you, you can get Nexium generics from India website. 100ct for less than $20.They are made by State Pharmaceutical Corporation of Sri Lanka.

Did anyone save a copy of their redemption form?... I got the 42 pack omeprazole at Walgreens, saved the receipt and rebate info, but cut off the number on the UPC code.. and now I need it for the redemption form. So I need just the UPC number!

PS Don't expect husbands to save things for rebates.

that's good info, but also want to throw out there that people should not stick to these Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI) long term, there are many side effects and infact you become dependent on them, where if you try to stop, your stomach then starts to overproduce acid, resulting in same symptoms if not new ones as well. Hence, you then start going back to these PPI like Omeprazole/Nexium/etc.


Try herbals like DGL or Mastica Gum and if you are on PPI slowly try to taper yourself off of them.

Was on PPIs chronically due to "mild" GERD - epigastric pain, waking pain, slight acid vomit during sleep.

Got an EGD last year, and there were no ulcers, erosive esophagitis, or Barretts. Just some redness.

Well, given the Public Citizen claims (not usually a supporter of them) of potential dangers of PPIs, I decided to wean myself last Fall. The rebound GERD was bad for 2 weeks. To combat that I used generic Zantac (ranitidine) and antacid (Walmart has the best generic flavor of "Tums") as needed.

Since then, my symptoms were off and on, but not as bad as the first 2 weeks of the wean. In January/February, my GERD started getting worse. I noticed an increase in antacid use and ranitidine use. I talked to a coworker about it, and he mentioned that a few years ago, he drank cabbage juice and his ulcers/GERD were gone. Well, that was interesting as I never heard of it. So I decided to look it up.

In my research, there were + and -. Some mentioned worsened esophageal sphincter relaxation. Therefore, I dismissed the use of cabbage juice.

Then, for about a week during St. Patrick's Day, I decided to cook some corned beef and cabbage for my family (we're not Irish BTW). Of course, they liked the dish and ate the cabbage/carrots/potatoes, but none were crazy of the veggies. Therefore, I must have eaten 1.5 heads of cabbage, 12 medium potatoes, and 1.5 lbs of carrots on my own...with a good amount of salt on each.

Know what? My GERD suddenly disappeared for the last few weeks! I'm not sure what of those 4 ingredients made my GERD better, but I ate a lot of cabbage, and I read a lot of the medicinal qualities of cabbage, so in this case I will say that 1+1=2. NOTE: I did not drink large quantities of the broth where I would figure that a lot of the nutrients are.

strange outcome...but I am promoting the eating of some cabbage, and if my symptoms reappear, I will be eating another weeks worth of corned beef and cabbage.

Of note, I have about 150 capsules/tablets worth of PPIs in my pantry and have not touched an antacid in two weeks.

Of course, this is not medical "advice", but opinion, so check with your doctor before changing your therapy.

How is the Cabbage regiment going? Has it 'cured' your symptoms for good?
